"Free ride is over -- Amazon.com collecting California sales tax"

So,

9% = revolt/one of the proudest moments in our recent history.

50% = having to listen to some internet fag talk about it being my civic duty to pay taxes.
Well put. These damn socialists troll us every day thinking that it's impossible to have roads and fire departments if you cut the tax rate by 5%... Makes me want to puke.

What the conversation SHOULD be about is HOW we let our masses get so brainwashed to think that our 50% taxes are acceptable at all... How they got this way, and how we can reverse it.

John Taylor Gatto put a lot of thought into that, after winning the US Teacher of the Year award in 2007. He knew quite a lot about the history of teaching on this continent, and I do believe he's nailed the answer to this quandry:

The time for talking about "how much" tax we should pay is over. We don't get to choose that without taking over Washington. Only morons created in the way that film points out should be discussing this topic.

He can't even address me when he talks, what a pussy. Why don't you man up and speak your mother fuckin mind? Afraid I'd rip your "theories" apart?

He just adds people to his ignore list if they don't agree with his zany ideals.

Pewep, I have no problems with you but please stop posting in this thread. Taxes are nothing more than government endorsed theft, backed by the threat of force and the loss of individual liberties.

Oh yeah, ass:

I was going to reply to Pewep's comment in rage, but I remembered he is a peasant and not worth the time.

Since when does civic duty = random number luck of the draw ( birth place )?

When that luck gives you a better lifestyle, lifespan, and more economic and political freedoms than 95% of the rest of the world.

Right you are about your civic duty. When a man's disposable (already taxed) income is forced to go towards alimony, she is taxed on the income. There's sales tax, property tax, social security tax, capital gains tax. Granted we aren't Europe, but my neighbors moved from Sweden to USA because they said over half their income was going towards taxes. I'd rather not slowly inch towards that point.

Yeah and Sweden has a highly educated population with no poverty, hardly any homelessness and high quality public infrastructure that works extremely well.

Wow that a 20% sales tax. That's getting raped dude.

Come to think about it, in the USA, We got federal tax, state tax, sales tax, city tax, mother fuckin water tax, gas tax, capital gains tax, and then fucking income tax. No matter were you turn some asshole is trying to come at you with a tax. If someone took the time to calculate the double and triple taxations for consumer good, from production to consumer possession, and then everything else, we'd realize we are probably spending 60-80% of our money paying a tax in some form. Think about you computer parts, every single part was probaby made by a different company, down to the fucking screws. The screw company pays taxes, the glass company, the CD parts, and all the way up, that's why prices are just going higher. When screw companies get screwed, We ALL get screwed.

Vote Ron Paul, 2012.

Good luck bros.

How did you forget property tax?

If I purchase the house I'm living in now, I'll wind up paying $12k a year for fucking ETERNITY just for owning the fucking thing.

Even if you go to Somalia, you still have to pay taxes. I qualify for the expat tax exemption and still have to pay taxes. The US govt doesn't do a god damn thing for me besides steal my money to pay for shit that I don't use and wars that I don't want.

I'm not a crazy that thinks that all taxes should go away, but this overspending beyond belief has to end, and people who don't even live in the country should not be required to pay shit.

This is a much more rational argument than the fantasists who say "tax is theft".

I hate paying tax, it sucks as a self employed person to make money from scratch out of nothing, then have to pay some seemingly arbitrary % to the government.

But this stupid persistant argument that tax is theft coupled with the idea that everyone is somehow completely self made without any help from society is just a way of rationalising utter selfishness.

Im all for rational debate about how much tax should be paid, with a reasoned logical plan on how to balance government finances and how best to efficiently provide services to citizens from the public purse.

But not the same retarded arguments from republicans that automatically state that taxes HAVE to always be cut, because business will automatically do better with lower taxes. Its just not true and isn't honest, there's not a rational debate on the issue.

Isn't it so cute how much people here bitch about social welfare when they are perfectly happy to give corporate welfare (tax cuts, subsidies) to billion dollar businesses. Fucking idiots don't know their assholes from their mouths.

That's fucked up. We have "council tax" which depends on the size of the property but it doesn't go higher than £2,000 for residential addresses.

If you give me 100 hot dogs, and then come back in a week and take 1 hot dog to feed a starving person, is this not still theft?

If a 100% tax rate would be theft, then why wouldn't 99%? If 74% is theft then why not 73%? Etc.

Sorry mate, no such thing as property ownership. Completely and utterly a farce in the U.S.

Why Amazon Caved on Sales Tax

It's a win win for Amazon. They collect sales tax for California. Which is paid for by the consumer. Then, they build warehouses in California so they can increase the ability to ship faster. The goal is to acheive same day or 1 day shipping. And because they are creating jobs in California they get tax breaks and other incentives for the corporation. Just like the brick and mortar stores down the block.

The brick and mortar stores like it because now Amazon doesn't start with a 10% competitive advantage over thier prices.

The good news for you is that Amazon will not be collecting sales tax from third party vendors. So, you can still find tax free purchases. Of course, the shipping may offset that.

that's my :2twocents:

Lol at using induction.

The "hot dog" isn't to feed a starving person, it's to pay the policemen that stop criminals coming and taking 100% of your hot dogs. It also needs to pay for the roads that you drove to the store to buy the hot dogs from.

Without a tax on your hot dog income to pay for societal services you would have zero hot dogs, or if someone managed to create hot dogs without any roads, safety for his hot dog factories or educated hot dog scientists you would probably die of hot dog poisoning as there would be no public money to pay for a health and safety enforcement so hot dog kingpins could fatten their hot dogs with actual "hot dogs" straight from dogs asses.

You're assuming that public services could never exist in a private market under a stateless society, which is of course wrong. Under that system, any help I gained from those services would be paid for as I used them.
