Why why why am I posting this here? Because I know maybe some of you have been there. Two good buddies with a crazy dream build something awesome but then you discover you are getting fucked over? I can't be alone. Fucking freaking out but can't do it in front of my employees so yeah forgive me for unburdening myself.

It's over and done. While I have a few side things that are solely mine the business that 90% of my day was dedicated is done. Fuck it. Can't fix it tonight, tonight I'll get drunk. Tomorrow I deal. Advice? Porno? Hilarious gifs? What you got for me boys? I'm buying this round.

Sorry to hear you got fucked over. Does the cockaroach know that you know ? If not perhaps you could use that to your advantage, and do some behind the scene shit to shift the scales back in your direction.

In what way did you get fucked over? More details could allow us to give you some advice.

Fair enough. Ok so I did the work and he closed the deals. It's easier to sell local clients in person than over the phone. All my clients are in the US, small businesses. We've been partners since I left the US in 2008. I needed a front man. We've done pretty good. Changed it up over the years, but the last 3 have been all about Local. We set up a couple different brands, targeting different kinds of businesses. I trusted him. But about a month ago I started hearing things like I was being cut out, leads that never reached me. So I start looking into it, had a couple of blowouts but today I did something I'm not incredibly proud of... got into his email. I just couldn't take it any more, I know it's shitty but omfg he never deletes anything... been fucking me over for years. years. All these conversations with clients I never saw, he was subbing the work out to shitty overseas contractors and riding high on the brands we built. So... sucks. I can't work with him anymore and he's not going quietly. I can't fight it legally so I walk away. Just a few months ago I set up actual office space here, let my telecommuters go and hired local people. So it's really crazy in my head right now haven't assimilated

Thats a shitty situation you could prob do alot of damage with his email but fuck him move on and keep building your biz. Don't lose faith in partnerships some people are lying cunts but I would never be successful with out the guys I partnered with.

Advice. Grab all the client info and contacts you can out of the biz, his e-mail, etc. Contact them directly and professionally tell them what is going on. Make sure you calm down before you do this. Try to bring as many of them over best as you can.

Other than that, cut your losses and move on. Figure out something else to do, another way to generate leads. Lay off workers sooner if you don't have work for them. Don't try to keep people or expenses going if you can't float it solo.

Also, in the future never trust anyone, ever. Remember, only the paranoid survive.

Pretty good advice. You could also send an email from his email to all the clients with some fucked up tranny horse porn embedded images, then your first official email from the "company" can be an announcement that asswhipe is no longer with the company for "serious dereliction of character" and you'll be stepping in to handle clients on a 1 on 1 basis from now on.

Source: I'm fucking hungover and that's probably a terrible idea. Good luck, bro-etta. I've been on your side of business relationships before and it fucking sucks.

Ugh - sorry to hear it. Hearing/reading this kind of stuff all the time is why I really just don't trust anyone's word in business. The second money gets involved, so many people just become shitheads.

If I had didn't have so much to get done, I'd start drinking and wreak havoc on the forums with you.

Instead, I give you these:

I find it weird that you would partner up with someone and not keep track of every single client/project. How did you not realize he was outsourcing the work? You should be part of every email and every phone call. If you give someone a chance to screw you over, they will. As Kevin O'Leary says, business has no feelings. It's a rough world.

Because he's there and I'm here. His role was to generate leads and close the deals, mine was to coordinate and perform the actual job. Turns out sometime awhile back he started cherry picking some of the juicier leads for himself. Not that he can do any of the work mind you. He just subbed it out and pocketed whatever was left. Hey if it had been commission based I wouldn't be bitching but it was 50-50 from the start. I shouldn't have trusted him. I get it but we grew up together you know? Like family. Guess that makes me one more schmuck that thought the universal "don't do business with family or friends" didn't apply to me. Going to take every client I can and keep on trucking. My second glass of whiskey has me feeling much more optimistic than I was. Cheers!

Sucks but.... I hate to be the debbie downer here, but getting into someone's email is pretty much a crime... Just something to think about.
