6 months of being a registered gun club member and (I think it's) 25 logged hours on a firing range, as well as cert I instruction on handling, safety and maintenance. Then you can apply for a license, get it in the mail in a couple of weeks, then just waltz into your nearest gun-smith and make sure you buy a safe as part of your first purchase... Don't be shocked by the range though. We're pretty much limited to revolvers, bolt action rifles and shotguns here.
Also, don't expect to be allowed to carry unless you've got a Security Cert IV or work in law enforcement.
