Baldurs Gate, X-com (original), Starcraft I, Age of Empires, Old school civilization, Diablo I and II
Maybe Im just a crotchety old bastard, but I played the newer version of most of those games and got bored after a week. I still boot up the originals and play them all the time.
Thats RTS shit though. Newer FPS have fucking crazy graphics.
And you have to love the newer Fallouts/Grand theft auto/Oblivion titles. In those cases the mechanics still rock, but the graphics got an overhaul.

When you enetered this world you were given the most advanced avatar: Your body. which allows you Feel, touch, smell, taste, speak, and see 3 dimensionally.
you were given the most advanced joystick: Your Mind. where you can imagine, create, develop, etc...
and you were given the most advanced "map" or level to play in called: This Universe.
No man made video even comes close to this. Imagine playing a video game where you're avatar is playing an inferior video game.
That's what people are doing when they play pc, xbox, playstation, etc... games instead of playing the most advanced and best game called:
