GG Romney

Basically saying you don't represent 47% of the US when you are running for president of the entire US is an extremely stupid thing to say.

You are leaving out the part where he said that 47% of voters (who have higher average incomes than nonvoters) do not pay income taxes, which is completely false.

Half the people who voted for Obama may have done so in a "lesser of two evils" type of way. Those are people that Romney needs to go after, but by telling them that they do not pay taxes he is giving a big middle finger to those people.

I don't think Romney said anything different than you hear on Limbaugh or this forum every day. So he prob didn't hurt any standing with his base. He possibly hurt some with independents/moderates but who knows. It's more that the media has decided this is a defining event so they're hyping it like crazy.

Ah yes, but 47 percent can't handle the truth! Besides, the truth doesn't sound as nice as typical, patronizing political sound bites - although it does ring of pragmatic business man.

I still think the Repubs kept the most solid, realistic candidates in the wings for the election to follow this one if Romney isn't able to pull it off for them in 2012. Watch for real game-changers in 2016 or 2022. Just an educated guess, of course.
