Going for Volume

nice work already Dave. Staying on with volume. Seems like you can churn out a php coded arbitrage site in 2 minutes, but how much time do you spend on keyword lists? Do you just find generators sort of things? Compiling thousands of keywords would take too long otherwise, no? After the site and the keyword list, any other work to do?

by the way, what was the profit on that?

Good questions i would also like to know the answers...

Thanks! I don't spend very long on keyword lists. I target a few high-traffic keywords in a specific niche and that seems to work for me.

My gross amount today so far is at $55, and I've spent $29.84 on advertising.

Does the quality of traffic decrease your $ per click ever if you do have unique content on the site? you guys mentioned that Google smart price if you have copied content, is this applied to low quality traffic?

Dave, do you use service like bidvertiser, clicksor and 7search etc. as you traffic source? or do you use normal advertising(text links and banners)?

I use 7search exclusively for now. I was using searchfeed as well but I hardly got any conversions.

Cool, so approx. how many keywords do you have per arbitrage site?

On average, most of my sites have around 8 keywords that are being targeted. I have one site that I didn't include in the average calculation since it has over 40 keywords and it would drive the average up.

For example, I have my main file called index.php. It basically contains the barebones html. I then have a config.php file that has everything I need to change from site to site. It has a path variable (I use folders off of a single domain), the image names I use, adsense code, and anything else I might need to configure. My css file is seperate (I'm currently working on a very lightweight template method where I can quickly change themese without rewriting the css file), and the article I want on that site in a .txt file.

Okay so I followed what you said and can make my sites in under 5 minutes by just doing everything through a config.php file. But the one thing I didn't do was any type of "path variable", what do you mean by that? I'm also making all my arbitrage sites through folders off a single domain. Perhaps whatever this is, it could speed me up a bit more :)

arbi with YPN is risky if you can not control the geo target. if your traffic is from outside the USA you better be carefull or do something else!

That and YPN does not like their ads to be on a site with little or no content. They will suspend or even ban you.

I haven't had issues with this. Then again, I have plenty of content on my arbitrage sites. It isn't like the web surfers read much of the content anyway. All you want them to do is go to your site and click something.

Do you have a reference for your statement?

Nice thanks yeah I was looking for hte # of words so I can just compare with how many words I have. Cool.

Still wondering about my first Q though

I'm not sure what he meant by path variable, but I will take a guess. It seems like you have your main index.php file, config.php file, and all your assets (articles, images, css, etc). In your ads on 7search or wherever, you can use query strings rather than hard directories.

Query strings are the variables that follow a URL, for example: example.com/index.php?article=mortgage

That means you can use the same index.php file for ALL your sites, and in that index file you parse the query string to grab the proper site.

oh pretty cool. Do people do that here? Does it work? I see sites like thefreedicitonary.com everywhere.

When I mentioned "plenty of content" I was referring to 1-pg arbitrage sites like these -- http://sellitallnow.net/gmortgages.html with basically no content. YPN is very critical of their ad network compared with Google. My YPN account got temporarily suspended last month during a review of one of my sites because the URL my ads were on looked as if I had no content. I am using a geo-target code that uses i-frames so when the YPN reviewer pulled up my separate url links that contain ads they basically came up with little to no content. I got an email stating that

"As you are aware, the Yahoo! Publisher Network
BetaProgram Policies require that your site be contentbased,
fully functional....blah, blah"

Once they pulled up the entire site and all the links they could see everything was fine. I'm not exactly sure how much content is enough but like I said, I'd be careful using a 1-page site like above. If you are unsure just send them an email and ask for a review. They are usually pretty quick and appreciate when publishers ask questions.

For going on volume, is it recommended to be specfiic in arbitrage sites or just stay vague with a ton of keywords. Like instead of simply "toyota cars" doing a specific toyota car. I'm not actually doing toyota for arbitrage, just trying to give an example
