Allegedly the first two people to sign up to it when it was first presented was a PEDOPHILE and a POLITICIAN. Sometimes the two are one of the same kinda sorta.

its possible (imo, likely) within 10 years this law or a derivative of it will be used for the right to forget joseph stalin, adolf hitler, why not companies, bp's oil spill, fukashima, bayer shipping HIV to europe, dole stripping the third world, and how about government, us radiation experiments on pregnant women, telling people "you have to pass a bill to read it" etc.

lets not exclude the victims of 911's right to be forgotten, they might wipe all of that information.

the crap in the eu has passed is coming here, think about your friends complaining anonymous about tracking.

consider how law makers will likely pass law without any sort of expertise or understanding that the data collected is why you can find things on google, often why websites improve, and how a little guy can compete against a big guy.

few years ago, shoemoney brought up the idea, and more recently, a defcon panel, had the idea that our people - internet marketers/creators/developers need our own lobby/union or whatever the fuck it takes to unify and maintain a viable effort to prevent this crap from fucking us.

if one day we are suddenly unable to track data, everybody that has been tracking data for the past decade will have an unfair competitive advantage. don't take it lightly, i know most people dont actually do conversion optimization (and you should, since it is SEO) but you and i are under attack. the net neutrality garbage and this eu stuff are just stepping stones to an agenda, dont let it happen.

This is interesting on so many levels and will be interesting to see how Google fights back and responds over the long run. As of right now they have setup a page to submit your information to be forgotten as long as it is accompanied by a European Identification.

The irony is the person who got the ruling Mario Costeja González had his home foreclosed upon and now that he won this case for other Europeans the only thing the world knows about Mario Costeja González is that he had to have an auction held to pay off his debts.

Perhaps he doesnt understand the irony of what has happened

Wow google must have had to hire an entire battalion of people to process these requests.
