Her mind is free

Freedom of choice and speech doesn't mean impunity of choice and speech.

Should she be fired? I don't believe so. But her employer did. The employer also has freedom.

Your opinion is yours. But if you make it public, there can be consequences.

keep confusing a politician's decisions (war) with a soldier's actions (job). soon you'll be at the airport spitting on vets.

It was the soldier's decision to go be a pawn in the politician's game though. There's no draft. There's no freedom to defend on a foreign battleground.

as a way to justify that this dumb bitch doesn't like giving random soldiers discounts when they go to the movies, we're slipping deeper down the theoretical rabbithole and arguing that militaries are unnecessary in modern society?

I think we're living in an era where the need for large, conventional militaries are coming to an end. Globalization has done its thing, and we're all dependent on each other nowadays, so large conventional wars are somewhat a thing of the past, as it'd be like going to war with yourself.

Security on the other hand is a different matter.

you may be right, you may not. but the implied premise was that soldiers are not less needed but completely unnecessary... hence the only reason they are signing up is to kill brown people... and that if only they wouldn't sign up, there would be no more killing... which is an argument for no military at all... which is typical of dumb chicks from kansas who work at cinemas, add their employers onto their facebook accounts, speak their tiny tiny minds, and gape at the consequences.

War blows. The marketing on either side is exceptional.

It's eyes-to-the-ground embarrassing to be called a hero. The only people who get off on that idea are

1.) The media
2.) Military member spouses
3.) Military members who have never been to war

The chaos and tragedy of war has no special criteria. There is no prejudice. Political agendas become more apparent. Sheep wake up to find themselves fighting to get home and get the fuck out of the military. There is a plethora of emotions involved that aren't worth talking through to people who can't relate. This lady isn't wrong, but she's annoyed with the wrong people.

It is that simple.

Is it harder to go to war without manpower? Sure.

If a child is raised in an environment that promotes murder, violence, discriminates against brown people, and then grows up and kills a brown person, who holds the most blame?

Oh come on, you can take on that line of thinking and not carry it to its end?

We are all a product of our environment, got it.

Guess what, we are also these marines current environment, we are shaping them right now. Praise them or rebuke them, we are creating the environment and they are being shaped by it.

Should they be spit on? No, they are a product of their environment like everyone else.

Does this make what they are doing right? No.

They need a hug and an education.

Assuming you cared enough to consciously think, "You know, I'm angry about something. The war. I'm angry about the war. Let me express my frustrations."

Should you

A.) Express your frustrations about the government's warring agenda
B.) Express your frustrations about people who sign up to goto war
C.) Express your frustrations about both A and B

Unless your answer is B, I think it's safe to say that you and I are in agreement.
