How many tabs do you keep open in your browser?

Just wondering, how many tabs do you keep open on your system as you work on it? Mine is like always more than seven, going up to twenty at times.

I've got 32 open in one browser instance, 23 in my second instance, and I just opened another instance that now has 7 tabs open.

It's causing my typing to stutter and pause before catching up to my typing now. LOL

P.S. I wish FireFox had an add-on that would allow me to grab the tabs and slide them over instead of having to WAIT on the arrow indexes to shuttle over.

^^^^^^^LOL

One of my other user names is "Info Hound".

When I'm exploiting Google's search syntaxes and using IDM is when I really get the tabs stacked up.

Or keeping things like this Unicode Lookup open in tabs while working for quick reference.

I'm up to 47 tabs in my 1st browser instance now, my second instance is down to just 5 and my third is at only 4 on this computer. (My main computer in the other room probably has about 90 tabs open between the 4 browser instances.)

It's really pretty easy to keep track since I kind of have a photographic memory. I know the favicons of the sites in the tabs and can see the order in my head to know how far over in need to go to access a site. That's why I wish I could just drag the tabs over instead of having to wait on shuttle clicking.

I treat my browser instances and tabs like a website. I have my 1st browser instance like a LP and the tabs are like the links to offers. Then when I want to work on an offer I open a new instance and then devote all of those tabs to the 1st instance tab that I am expounding on.

This way I know where everything is in my tree so to speak and can minimize or expand to do comparisons or grab relevant info for the topic I'm working on.

It comes in handy for when I get interrupted also. If I need to shut the computer down, I don't close my browser instances. I leave them open and let the system shut them down so that I just have ALL the instances reopen where the were after the re-boot. (If I closed them manually I could only restore ONE instance and not all of them.)

Umm you people are crazy. I typically have like 10 in one then 5 in another, maybe 5 more in the third one.

Have you heard of this FF plugin? It moves the tabs to the left side. Much easier and you can really get out of hand this way. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5890

It also keeps track of which page caused you to go to the next nested tabs.

Quite cool

Thanks for the link, I've already installed the add-on!!!

Yes, pretty awesome. Thanks! I had thought, "what a stupid thread". It proved to be rather useful after all.

Ditto, but I needed a break from looking at MUTILATED TITTIES. Damn!!

I took a nap and when I woke up my 4 FF instances had crashed. I restored them and now the "Tree Style" add on is no longer there!! FUCK!! Guess I'll download again and reinstall to see how long it lasts this time.

You may want to try the 'iMacros' addon for Firefox to automate repetitive tasks.
Further, you may want to read this - digital minimalism or digital simplicity - having few icons, few open windows, few open tabs, few installed software, and so on and so forth..

Thanks Drake. I'd seen that plugin before but you made me have a lightbulb moment. Reps to you.

I wish there were more threads here about productivity enhancements. So much more useful than fucking motivational bs.

Fuck, it must be just me then.

I currently have:

FF instance 1, two windows, total is around 200 tabs
FF instance 2 (diff profile), 1 window, about 30 tabs
Been using the Tree Style Tabs plugin for months. Also love the sessions manager plugin, I can restart my 200 tabs easily. With two profiles I am logged into 2 diff Facebook accounts at once ;)

Opera - two windows, total tabs is around 50. Opera has the 'tree style tabs' as an option as well as many other awesome features.

Chrome - about 12 tabs.

Firefox is my 'workspace'. Opera is sites that I keep permanantly open. One window is work related (network stat screen, currency conversion page, other oft visited sites), the other window is personal stuff (facebook, stratfor, news, twitter, wicked fire etc).
Chome is somewhat experimental.. Prosper202 Spy view lives there, and other randoms.
As an example, with all this I am logged in to gmail, google analytics, adsense, adwords in different accounts in different browsers all at once. I hate the cookie profile plugins, I hate waiting. I want it all now.

Hundreds of sites just an 'alt-tab' away. I like to MULTITASK.

Oh yeah, thats just the main machine. My laptop next to me has a 'cutdown' version of the above, in case the main machine stalls for some reason and I may waste a few seconds. Dont like to waste time!

Guess how many Tapps I can open in her ass?

Chrome - for browsing social networks and forums - 10 or 20
Firefox - for google reader and stumble upon - 30 - 40
Firefox (another window) - for porn galleries and those little clips - Googol(plex)
