How many tabs do you keep open in your browser?

Approximately 20 tabs per browser instance, with a total of 6-7 different browser instances. So around 130 total tabs.

The MX Revolution is amazing for handling this many tabs. Moving the clickwheel left/right lets me switch through each of my tabs.

It allows tabs get thinner than the 100 pixel default so more fit across the screen before the sideways scrolling starts.

Thanks for this explanation!

I have installed the tree style plus addon, and I couldnt stand the tree display at the left eating up screen real estate, so I changed the options to make it display at the top. I also found that if I click on the downward pointing arrow at the top right it gives me a display of all the open tabs, which is just what I needed.

When dealing with countless tabs the following addons may be useful

session manager
aging tabs

I havent used session maanger so far, I guess it can be useful sometimes. I always close all the tabs before shutting down the browser.

aging tabs - very useful for me as it changes the tab color based on how recently I used it.

I ended up removing tree style plus addon - I just used the browser.tabs.minWidth 0 tip (awesome) and the downarrow at the top left provides access to every tab I currently have open - I didnt notice its functionality...

Great Now I have a very lengthy row of open tabs at the top of my browser, I customized the toolbar to show text only so I can get more vertical screen real estate, but now I have a different problem, one for which I believe some of you people may have a solution or can point me in the right direction.

I would like to arrange the row of horizontal tabs in two or three rows - I have some tabs open all the time, such as my wordpress blog, gmail, etc. which I would like to keep on the top row while sites that I visit would form the second row. I could view sites displaying in the second row and switch to my blog and update the blog any time, currently I am lost in all the maze of favicons displaying at the top as to where my blog update window is and I hate horiz scrolling (so I used tab minwidth 0) - I may also read some sites in the second row of tabs, see that the article has 4 pages in it, read one page, promote it to the top row so it stays there (so I can easily return to it when I feel like it), and come back and read the remaining pages later.

In short: I need to organize the tab headers in horizontal rows in FF - any suitable addon?

The only time I have more than 2 tabs open is when I'm doing my daily digg/reddit/shortnews/joystiq/kotaku/lifehacker/gizmodo/theawesomer/engadget run. When I'm doing the run, I reach 30+ tabs, but I don't read it all then. I just use ReadItLater (ffaddon) and do all my reading/youtubing on sundays.

Batch tasks ftw!

Is there other firefox addon that changes the tab color when a tab starts playing music or making sound? its difficult to find the tab emanating sound (so you can close it or attend to it first) when you have 65 tabs open at the same time. I remember writing about this in firefox mozilla bug forums and they said if flash files play music then they cant detect it or some thing like that, but an addon can have access to the security model of the computer, so it can possibly detect that sound is emanating from something contained within a web page?

Window one-my personal/social stuff (gmail, calender, facebook, etc) has 7-9 tabs

Window two-work (writing) has 3-10 tabs depending how many articles I work on at once. I like to start research on an article when I get an idea then return to the main article I was working on.

Window three-my own Internet projects has 3-10 tabs

Just counted - I have 57 tabs open in Firefox. Of course, I have made a habit of never opening Wickedfire in Firefox, because if I click on the wrong link I have to close all of my tabs, and in essence lose all my work. Instead I open WF in Google Chrome, which is my second favorite browser.

Just wondering, how many tabs do you keep open on your system as you work on it? Mine is like always more than seven, going up to twenty at times.

I open two windows 1 for my work and the another for my personal research and depends upon the work I keep open upto maximum 5 tabs on each browser.

Hi fifthdimention,
You can open as many as tabs in your browser window but be careful that your system's RAM supports the load, which u put on your window.:banana_sml: Currently i used to open 10 tabs in a time.
