How much have you lost in 1 day or 1 month?

$600 in 5 minutes - content network, traffic came in too fast, but profitable the next day because the QS was shot up to the roof me thinks.

Observation: all those losing money in one day are doing PPC. :D

Ya PPC is easy to see what you lose in costs. Most of my observable costs have been in PPC.

Spent $600 and got $65 lately in something I forgot to watch closer. Crap converting offer.

Tried to bid 50 cents and Big G says I bid $50 a click for something small. Paid $25 a click for 3 clicks before I noticed it. Google would not reverse it. Assholes.

But if I spend a few weeks on SEO and make little it does not feel as bad. I can always hope for the future.

In PPC there is no future sale, only now! Except if they opted into a newsletter.

PPC here as well. I lost 500 euro in a hour because the stupid captcha showed a broken image. Noone could register, unless they were psychic.

I once lost $300 by sending traffic to a page that was down. I now use Montastic to alert me if any of my sites/pages go down.

 Montastic is the shit isn't it? Saved my ass 2 times during the last 6 months -- both times would have probably lost at least $80 during the down time. Sucks to get a text msg at 4am but it's always nice to save a little dough.

i have a blog that was operating for a whole year with a CSS bug that messed up post pages in IE. never knew about it the whole time, because i never tested it in IE. don't know exactly how much it cost me, but based on how much conversions grew afterwards, it had to have been a shit load.

Is there a way to programmatically pause an adwords campaign if you could write a script to determine a server is down?

What's the solution there?

Or, maybe mirror the server and have it redirect somehow?

There might be a way. I recently discover there are perl adword modules that will in theory allow a programmer to have a fail safe on a cron job that could pause a campaign. I just thought of that while reading this post. I know there are adword apis that can make this happen if u have a clever enough programmer.

The only PPC I do is with vouchers so I've never lost anything there.
I did lose $1500 in a few hours sitting at a black jack table in vegas once though, does that count?

Lost usd200 in forex when my stupid laptop crash and I can't put the stop loss.

Yeah, I've lost WAY more in day trading than I ever have doing PPC. Makes Adwords look like shooting fish in a barrel.

about 800$ on a stock that tanked and i rode it all the way down ....lol

in one day? $11k

In one month? $18k (same month as the one shitty day)

^^ from getting slogged by affiliate networks.

In one year? $80k+

^^ throwing money away on attorneys for ridiculous law suits

In my lifetime? Probably more than I've made..... which is a little depressing.

getting banned by peakclick after 3 months of blackhat work run me to about a $2K+ loss, in lost payments (f*ckers), hosting and domain costs and development time/money. on the plus side have made about $1k back so far as google hadn't banned all the domains yet and i found out parked domains pay way better :)

ppc wise, i'm really new to this, but i lost ~$100 on friday due to a google glitch forcing my ad into the number one spot and only showing 6 or so ads one minute then all of them the next. tyre kickers done the budget with no conversions but i did come away with an insane 50.54% CTR for the day so hit a 500%+ ROI today once i optimized the campaign.

you lost 3 months of "blackhat work" revenue and were only out $2k?

yes. it was a test operation not related to my main activities and for less than an afternoons setup work not bad bank. in hindsite i fucked up by not cashing my chips in sooner with this strategy. a lesson learned and not to be repeated by me again. luckily i did have the sense to ask for payment before i expanded out across my other servers otherwise it could have been real costly.
