HP Touchpads for $89.43

This is what troubles me most about buying a discontinued product: "OS provided: HP webOS 3.0"

HP TouchPad Review - Watch CNET's Video Review

How much longer are the apps going to be supported for this thing? Or does it run the iPad's apps?

OTOH, this part looks good: "delivers Adobe Flash-enabled Web browsing" because as I recall the iPad doesn't run flash, or does the new model?

The hackers are all over this... It'll be running Andoid in few weeks I suspect...

Wish I was able to find some of these in stock. Already own an iPad 2 but my parents would and son would have loved to have one. Oh well missed the boat I suppose.

Why... what a horrible OS they have, can't run android, no iOS..

I agree... it's like a glorified casio organizer with wifi. I mean there are windows 7 250g/2g netbooks I'll be there all the time, why anyone would want a non Linux/android/win is is beyond me.

And buying 10 or even 100 for resale is not worth my time, I'm not prepared to offer support when the s*** bricks.

Now I remember why I blacklisted HP from my life like ten years ago. They made shitty hardware then and they make shitty hardware now. Out of three Touchpads that I've opened, two have had problems. The first one has a crack near the speaker cutout, which seems to be a common problem. The second has a bad speaker, that constantly pops and the only way to make it stop is to completely disable sound all together.

If I would have paid $399 for these things, I would have raged and murdered people. Even at $99, I still think they are pieces of shit. Cheap, plastic, shitty design, bad hardware... I've seen better quality Chinese knockoffs.

On the other hand, I really love WebOS. Too bad HP had to take that and destroy it like they do everything else. I'll keep one for myself, just because I went through all the trouble of chasing them down today. My family gets the rest.

In short, HP quality still sucks and there's a reason these things are now $99.

Looks like my order from last night might go through (just switched from being verified to being processed).

Thanks for the heads up, i got the 32gb one and a ream of paper for $136. hopefully mine comes in ok shape, but for that price this seems like a no brainer. WebOS is supposed to be sweet.

Sucks about your problems though, sorry to hear that.

It's official... 3 out of 7 opened Touchpads have at least one defect. I'm either the most unlucky person in the world or these things are straight up crap. And the ones that *don't* have defects still make clicking sounds where the plastic body meets the screen if you squeeze (aka hold) the tablet too tight.

I got to compare the Touchpad to my friend's Chinese tablet from Deal Extreme a few minutes ago. HOLY SHIT. His no-name tablet was WAY fucking nicer. I'm selling my Touchpad and getting one of these instead:

7" Capacitive LCD Dual-Core Android 2.2 Tablet PC w/ Camera/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/HDMI (4GB/Cortex A9) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

i retract my previous statement comparing the hpos to a casio. it is actually quite nice and crisp, i just prefer linux/android as an os and dont really trust other os's for compatability purposes.

not really sure where a 7" would fit into my life, but i really like them. they can almost fit in your back pocket. very conerned about battery life with these things also...android generally manages power terribly, even with it rooted and all the tricks. either way i am so glad that the ipad is getting some real competition.

I just ordered one from BestBuy.com, I hope it goes through, looks like they ran out shortly after I ordered lol.

Subigo, that sucks. But don't they come with a 1 year warranty? I would be contacting HP about it and trying to get it fixed. Not sure if they are doing warranties now that they are liquidating them though.
