Hydra STIFFING me

Isn't it customary to have deposits on hand from advertisers to cover future conversions? And to halt campaigns when the deposit gets low? That way no one get stiffed by the advertiser not paying.

I may be out to lunch here; but that's just what I figured.

Nowadays it seems that A LOT of networks think that delayed payments are alright, and definitely workable for the affiliate. Can I, as an affiliate delay my payment to Facebook, Yahoo or TrafficVance?

That question only makes sense if all three parties (channel, network, aff) were all on parity as far as leverage in the online advertising ecology. Affs don't delay payment to Traffic Vance or Facebook out of a sense of ethical obligation but because if they don't they can't operate.

channel (Facebook/Google/Traffic Vance) > networks > affiliates

nope, now it's "we don't actually have any cash on hand, so here's to hoping!" and then just stiff the affiliate when the cookie crumbles the wrong way.

hey it's in the T's and C's!

fuck that noise

true- but the MAIN reason is that most of these parties require a prepay (or extend minimal amounts of credit in the case of google billing EOB) <of course this is not taking credit terms into consideration>

"Hey guys, we can still decide to fuck you, because you agreed to it in our terms and all, but it usually doesn't happen, so don't worry bout it."

Glad I've never ran traffic through y'all.

Sorry that's it's news to you, but every network is this way.

realize this, just surprises me that mason is so nonchalant about it.

Sorry I did not mean to come off as nonchalant and I apologize if i did. I will confess when i first posted I was a bit irked that the OP started a F* Hydra thread before even talking to me about it. I had just got off the phone with him after assuring I would personally try to expedite payment for him and then came upon this. So. My bad.

The fact is we work very hard to get our affiliates paid regardless of whether we get paid or not and regardless of what it says in our Ts&Cs. We, like all networks, depend on you guys. And as evidenced by this thread, non-payment for any reason other than outright fraud does not go down well.

I will also say that we have tightened credit for advertisers. Despite it, there still are problems with non-payment.

Anyway, sorry for acting "high and mighty." And if you have a problem with Hydra, call me.

I don't have a phone (didn't get paid by you guys for my $3.50 in sales), so here goes:

I'm fucking upset at Hydra personally. Every fucking time I cut one head off of this fucking monster, two more appear. I've been chopping, hacking, swacking, and lopping for 2 fucking hours now and this fucker just won't die. You think you're smart shit Mason, how the fuck do I kill this thing???

Well, that certainly convinced me. I think I'll go log into my Hydra account and see what offers you guys have.

Aw, shit. Nevermind. I don't have an Hydra account because it was nuked for not logging in and/or not running anything for a while.

Oh well.

Every network has this policy in place but a network who cares about its reputation and its affiliates would not deny payments to the affiliate. Stop working w/ the wrong networks and bitching about it later. We've taken huge hits and do it because we simply care about our affiliates and it's our responsibility - and that's being modest.
