Ok, it's one thing to be cheap because you're a student or jobless. That I understand (kind of).. It's another thing to be cheap when you're making 6 figures a year. I just don't get it, why do some people like to hide their money and buy only the cheapest stuff they can get their hands on? You could tell the only thing that makes them happy is to look at their fat bank statement. It's always the same excuse they give you "I've got lots of things to pay!"... Don't we all? Is spending a $10 cover to get in the bar really gonna hurt you badly? Is talking on the phone a few more minutes (at $0.19 a minute) really gonna make you go broke? Is spending an extra $50 per night for a nicer hotel in a better location gonna make you have to mortgage your home?

Again I've had this problem with people making LOTS of money... not your average middle class guy

How do you cure cheap people from their disease?

I don't have an issue with people wanting to save money and spend money wisely...
No matter how "rich" they are...

Do you hate when "rich" people shop at Walmart?
How about if they use coupons at the grocery store?

Bunch of cheap ass motherfuckers up in this forum, be careful.

Some people need a near death experience to realize they should probably invest more in the good times/cool shit.

Yes....

The fuck do you care how others choose to spend or save their money?

I don't like it either when people are too cheap but then again it's not my fucking money and for all I know they might have a $200K gambling debt that they rather make payments on instead of having their legs broken, who knows?

Class envy is alive and well

I don't hold back when I want to have a good time and it also bothers me when people go overboard with their cheapness but I don't rant about it because it's none of my damn business what they do with their dough and I sure as hell wouldn't want someone telling me what to do with mine. U dig?

I appreciate people not spending money on useless/overpriced stuff. There's no reason to waste money on anything, even if you have millions. Spend it on something good instead...

But I do like to take like 6-10 vacations a year.

100 blog comments links in 30$ on High PR pages is better than getting 50 link in 2000$.? I am sure 100 blog comments are better so than why I should invest. So actually I am spending money wisely and may be I am spending too much.

I guess I see people as being either "frugal" or "cheap." Nothing wrong with trying to save money, even if it's very small amounts. In fact, it's probably the responsible thing to do. But yeah, there are times when people just take it too far, to the point where you just have to ask yourself, "Seriously?" The other day I saw some woman haggling over a bowl of soup, trying to shave like 10 cents off of the price. Eventually after like 2 ridiculous minutes, the server just gave up and agreed to the 10 cents, at which point she changed her mind and tried to increase the discount an additional few cents. lol

Going overboard is things like buying paper plates and cups and then re-using them... I've actually seen that. They would put them in the sink like regular dishes and then wash them and put them back into the cupboard... Yea, shit like that IS overboard... not to mention disgusting.

But staying at Hotel A, that your just as comfortable at as Hotel B and saving $50 is not overboard. Why should people spend their money on the more expensive thing just because their bank account balance is high?

I was in CVS one time and this guy in front of me was arguing over an expired coupon to save $0.25 cents... After about 5 minutes I threw a quarter on the counter in front of him and then said to get the fuck out...

But I wasn't really mad at him for trying to save a quarter but more mad because he was holding up the line... I was in a hurry.

BTW, he actually took the quarter! lol

It baffles me when some don't consider that time is money.

Example: A maid

Some might consider it a luxury, but wouldn't it cost you more money to spend 3 hours cleaning up vs paying someone else much less and working during that time period?

Maybe they have an obscene amount of money because they've always been careful with how and where they spent it?

I could fit your description. I mean, I don't mind dropping money on a wonderful life experience like a fantastic vacation, an insane party weekend or such. But in day to day life I'm cheap.

I am so for one reason; I want financial freedom. You don't get that by making money; you get it by putting it away and getting to a point in life where you don't spend your seed capital, only part of the dividends from it.

And $50 extra on a hotel when you only make low 6 digits is a lot. If you don't understand that, it is your loss, not mine.

@ maid comment, I have one, I understand math. But that is also why some would categorize me as 'cheap'
