Sleep is never a problem for me....not too much....not too little, but today I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, I have a job interview this afternoon! A little less than 10 hours away!

While others are trying to work to get out of their office jobs, I want this office job badly. It will be my first office job since I was 19 (I'm 48 now).

For those who might not know me, I have been hanging in there with my internet projects while I work 1.5-2 full time jobs. I've gone months with no days off and work most every weekend and most nights. I also work on my own writing and photography business on the side in addition to wage earning and internet projects.

This job is important because it means at ONE job I'll be making what I make at two wage earning jobs PLUS making 4-5 more thousand per year at this one job! :) It will be mainly daytime/weekday hours! It will mean time AND energy for what I want to do for income......write, photograph, and internet projects. I will be working with the disabled, which I have been doing for nearly 10 years and I find it extremely rewarding. It is at the company that I have worked at for the past 8+ years.

As I wait for the interview, I will be doing the following:
  • Praying
  • Reviewing information/knowledge that will be needed for the new position
  • Planning my day so I have plenty of time to be ready and get there early so I am relaxed when I walk in the interview room
  • "Rehearsing" by imagining myself in the interview calm, confident, and knowledgeable
  • Conditioning my hair-it is humid now in AZ and my big long curly hair is quite out of control and could be distracting to the interview panel :) lol!...A girl has got to look good during life changing moments!
  • Do something relaxing that I really enjoy-not sure what yet!
Today may be a big turning point for me! I should know by the end of the week their choice. I do have the peace that if this isn't the way for me to make enough money at one job, it is coming. I've stopped being scared of change because I became more scared of my life remaining the same with the same time and financial struggles. It has freed me to consider more options and the opportunity to do things to prepare for my new future.

About 5 months ago I wrote a list of what I want to do in my life (like one job>self-employment>passive income). I read the list (which is long and detailed) nearly every day. Since then I've noticed opportunities all around me for change and started taking the steps needed to reach the goals. I've moved forward faster than I ever have in the past since I speak what I want daily. I've been more focused also! :)

If you can, watch "What the Bleep Do We Know" on how our thoughts and words can change us, it can even change our cells and how our brain works!

Just a few tips, although I'm sure you know all of them!

Take some tic-tacs or mint's with you, not gum. Don't go heavy on perfume, etc.

Be enthusiastic but not cocky, make sure they understand that you CAN do the job. Remember not looking disparate is also a key... them having you should be a privilege, not you being privileged to work there - whether or not it's true!

Stop the praying, take more time to learn a bit about the company.

::emp::

It appears from your post you are detail oriented and lend a lot to setting a strategy in life. Getting this job is no different. Try to keep emotion out of it and approach it with the same logic you have been approaching your other objectives and you should be just fine

You CAN stop the praying, Jan... I just said a few for you :D

Goodluck.
You'll do great.
You deserve the job.
Now just go in there
And TAKE it.

Goodluck today Jan

Wait just one quick second here now....

WHAT THE FUCK IS A JOB?!!?!?

;)

Show-off....over-achiever :)

EVERYONE-thank you so very much for the well wishes, luck, and prayers! No wonder I love it here!

I've worked for the company for 8+ years and not sure if it made it easier or harder to know the 3 panel members that interviewed me!

Everyone who walked by as I sat in the waiting area (I NEVER sit there) was rooting for me when they found out why I was there AND dressed up.......no jeans and a tank- I had on a skirt and I even wore heals! :)

I know I did great (hair and I were calm!). Nothing stumped me during the 45 minutes of questions and responses to scenarios. I will know the results by Mon or Tues.

Wish I read the tick tack thing sooner, my mouth started to get dry!

See! The tic tacs are UNDERrated. :)

Good job Jan, let us know - like I said I went through it myself very recently (hell, I'm at the office now) and they really do notice the differences.

Jan,

Worst case scenario is if they don't hire you, we deface the fuck out of their homepage.

1 thing I always found about jobs. There's always another one. It's like girlfriends, you think the one you have now is the best. But then you break up with her and find this new one that's 99% of the time better.

Just remember when you go into this interview that you always want to come from a place of wealth and abundance. If you go in seeming desperate like you really really need the job then that desperation comes off in the interview and usually will run an employer the wrong way. Think again from a dating perspective. How does the desperate and needy guy make the girl feel?

Come from a place of abundance. Sell yourself to them by wrapping what you know around what they do. And sell how what you know is going to benefit them as an employer. Sell the benefits to the employer, not your quiver of skills.

Good Luck! But always remember there's another job.
