What makes you think the US isn't responsible for what happened to Mr Dotcom?

Don't kid yourself POTUS is the ruler of every nation on the planet. Most people and most nations just don't realize it.

i am quite sure that it was megathief stealing other peoples hard work and selling memberships to download it that got him in trouble
not obama.

but you are right..the us has big power and far reach.

He didn't steal anything. He ran a content upload site, just like YouTube.

When they received notices of violations, they removed content.

Not to mention, the entire notion of copyright/patent is farcical and retarded in the first place.

Copying is not theft.

Piracy is a funny term though. Pirates original ran into conflict because they were not authorized by the crown to compete in the production or provision of a good/service.

The original, "Letters Patent" were monopoly grants from the royalty to particular businessmen. What we would consider anti-trust sort of situations today, but with the corporatist hand of violence behind them.

If you make a car, and I see it and make my own car, I haven't stolen anything from you.

If you make a car, and you label it, "Patrick's Car" and I make a similar car and label it "Patrick's Car" I still haven't stolen from you.

Programmers really struggle with this because they copy each other all of the time, but secretly dream of having a Bill Gates-esque software copyright and patent empire. A perpetual license to make money by preventing other people from emulating a solution.

All human learning and ideas are derivative. No one OWNS an idea, except within their own mind.

listen, i like your posts, i know you are a smart guy, so i am having difficulty understanding your reasoning here.

IF you program your own operating system, that is not an issue.
however if you let other people download windows from your servers, and charge them a monthly fee to be able to download that software....that is theft....trust me...i have no love for microfucks.

innovation? technical superiority? show it.
make your own operating system.

make your own hollywood movie blockbusters...and let other people get it for free.

I've been convinced for months that LukeP isn't fully there. So... I'm not surprised he'd like this.

Can you rephrase this in English for me?

What exactly is this scenario?

All human creation is derivative. Use of language is derivative. Use of the monetary system is deriative. We're all standing on the shoulders of our ancestors. If they had patent and copyright, we'd have a fraction of the innovation we do today.

Patent/copyright is a scheme cooked up to prevent competition. The justification is that it protects creators, but people created things for thousands of years before patent and copyright, so that argument doesn't hold much water.

Ideas are a dime a dozen, it's execution that matters.

Taking corporate america down would really be the only way that we could combat this since they are the ones pulling all the string behind the scenes.

Maybe a massive campaign to stop buying from a single company in one month would potentially kill a companies profits enough to make them go bankrupt. Then do the same thing over and over with all the different companies.

Do you really believe that nobody else will pick those strings up?

The real problem is that there is an entity who has "rights" over the life and property of people.
