Kubrick.
Scorcese.
Coppola.
Cameron.

Beware of cheap imitations.

If I had to pick a film to watch from one of those guys I would go with...

Kubrick - 2001: A Space Odyssey
Scorcese - Casino
Coppola - The Godfather (haven't seen any others)
Cameron - Terminator 2

When you talk about the all time great directors... Alfred Hitchcock has to be included imo.:)

How did I forget this one!

I have many favorites, but some of them would probably not appeal to WF members. Here are a few of my faves that I think would appeal to WF community taste:

Freeway
The Last King of Scotland
Trading Places
Network
There Will Be Blood
Goodfellas
Terminator 2
Midnight Cowboy
Training Day

I have GOT to add the wonderfully, dated and super-rated, penultimate rock star film of the 90's, all star cast and crew....

AIRHEADS.

I never, ever tire of it. It is my most favorite, most delicious film.

This coming from a classic movie buff.

A couple off the top of my head, in no particular order:

Up
Suburbia (1985)
, not the 90s film that was particularly crappy
Braveheart
Sophie's Choice
Silence of the Lambs
Schindler's List
Goodbye, Lenin
(subtitled, unless you know German and feel adventurous)
The Cup (Tibetan Film)
The Hebrew Hammer
Jay and Silent Bob Films

A few others come to mind, but try these first.

Favorite of all time.

Of course, as should be Ford, Chaplin, Wells, etc.

Saying those names though sounds a bit pretentious in a forum filled with people choosing Airheads though, no? lol
