Looking for HIGH QUALITY Designers??

I've posted on a number of freelance sites for more "higher quality" web designers, but I can't seem to find what I want. I remember Sitepoint, a few years back, used to have design contests for developers, which would have the employer post what they wanted and a range of designers would post their mockups.

I would like to find a few sites like that, so I may find a designer or two that actually have some real talent and possess the style I am looking for.

Any suggestions?

Possible other "high quality" freelance sites? I've tried Vworker, Elance, and maybe one other.

An outsourcing firm eh? Can you give me an example? Are you speaking of a web design company? I believe those organizations charge triple the amount of what I am accustomed to paying.

IMHO, hiring a web design firm is like adding a middle man to the equation, when I can just go straight to the source. Again, looking for more of a bidding war type of process, where the designers receive details and the best one WINS the project.

Justo is right. The quality u want is likely way beyond what you're willing to pay. Quality design is largely off freelance sites. "High quality" designers work for creative agencies who keep 'em busy with full-time work, etc. and they don't need to sell themselves to a random person on freelance sites. And yes, they charge a shitload. And yes, they're mostly from the FIRST-WORLD so you can't get 'em cheap. Sucks I know :)
 
i once paid 2000$ for a premium designer (888.com creative manager)

it depends in your needs.

what you're looking for is a high quality designer, that doesnt know that he is one.

you can't find high quality for cheap, and even if you do youll find the other cons during the process.
 
I am looking for the exact same thing with little luck.

No way I am paying $200 an hour to an agency to cover their huge overhead costs.

There has to be talented webdesign companies in the Philippines who charge much less than that no?

That's what I thought too but my experience proved otherwise. Most likely, "noway I'm paying $X" attitude will also mean "no way you're getting that HIGH quality that u want buddy". I'm sure this is not what u wanna hear but this has been my experience. So to sump up: pay up or settle for lower quality or keep looking.

When it comes to design, you get what you pay for.. If your branding is really that important, I wouldn't hesitate to drop more than 10k on it.
 
I had a similar problem (trying to hire good quality freelance designers) and found a few from a site called freelancedepot.info. Basically a CSS gallery which showcases freelance designer websites.

Good find. What's their rate range? And BTW that guy is violating Adsense guidelines ;) "Resources" heh. Won't rat him out, just saying.
