Having one kid and jumping through hoops to make ends meet is acceptable. Having a liter of them when you don't have the means to provide for them is just plain democrat .. it's the very definition of irresponsibility.
I think the world would be a better place if # of children were directly related to IQ or financial well-being.

I pretty much agree with that, no sense in having more kids than you're able to support (or willing to sacrifice some luxeries in order to support).
Kinda like how you see some folks renting a 60" Plasma from RAC, and then wondering why they can't make rent on time each month.
I have a buddy who just got his girl pregnant, he's a high school teacher and his wife is still in school.
Can I ask a question that may be slightly off topic and inappropriate? (of course I can, it's wickedfire!) It's a real question though. This usually happens a few times a year in this country. I often wonder what are these people's beliefs in the afterlife. I mean if 95% of people ,in this country, believe in a supernatural existence after death ( I think something like 65% is a christian belief)...what do you think they are thinking is going to happen to them after they do something like that?

There is absolutely no excuse for this.
In this day and age there is an overabundance of helpful methods to remedy a troubled situation (choose one).
And yeah, if someone is thinking of bringing a child into this world with their spouse - think real hard of the responsibility that comes with that, before deciding to do so.
Kids are innocent and really count on their parents as their protector, friend and guide.
When the stress comes - put down the negative ego - buck up like the rest of us, and find a positive solution.

In my opinion most people who would do something like that would have to be mentally ill (or otherwise so devout in their own belief system). The problem here though , is even if they are Christian, the action themselves like in the story above contradicts Christian belief. But then again, I've found most Christians to be hypocrites in their own way.
I guess from a Christian perspective, the children would have it better. But it contradicts the assumption that we even have a right to claiming one's life. Ergo I find them to be either a hypocrite, or mentally ill. (Or a vulcan if you consider sacrificing a group of people out of the equation to lessen the strain on government issued assistance). I was raised Catholic, so I can only speak from that perspective. But I don't think an Atheist would be any less capable of doing what the guy above did (as nothingness might seem attractive to someone facing what they beleive to be a life of pain).
To some the action going to seem selfish, but to other not (ie: we don't have to worry bout them in the equation any more, kinda like a murderer who would be convicted saving us tax dollars by offing himself).
In a calculating way (removing emotion) it may be similar to when female rodents eat their babies when there is a threat nearby. Wtf is the logic? I have no idea since they're dead for sure if you eat them...anyways I digress. I would hate to chalk it up to "mental illness" it's too easy to dismiss and therefore we miss out on the signs of this happening again in the future. Temporary insanity...maybe.
Though to me, I don't see mental illness as being an excuse for irresponsibility. But apparently most do. I guess I boil it down to mental illness because I can't see myself being both sane and doing that.

Uber: I'm not cracking a joke, just making a comment on how pathetic society has become in some respects. Other people have said it more eloquently than I did, but this guy dug a whole for himself by being dumb enough to think he could dig up. Do I feel sorry for the kids? Sorta, in as much as I feel down for any depressing faceless statistic. These things add to my over all sense of doom & gloom, but it's not like I knew them.
If you did, then you have my sympathy, but I get the feeling you don't, so I don't understand why your reaction is so vehement to a situation that would generally warrant a Tshirt Hell competition (if it hadn't closed).
But this guy and his wife attempted to play the system and not pay for anything. They got two mortgages, they tried to get free/cheap childcare, hell they even tried to not pay contractors for concrete for their house extensions. It wasn't even biting off mor ethan they could chew, they attempted to eat the whole damn buffet and do a runner!
Now, the logical and brave thing to do would have been for this guy to have gotten life insurance for an insanely large amount, kiss his wife goodbye, and wander up to New York and start mouthing off to some ballers or disappear into the Hudson.

It's kind of sad that the Nazi's fucked over Eugenics and everyone now thinks it's some kind of hideous evil to want to improve the human race by selective breeding or genetic manipulation (yet happily allow it to happen with crops and animals... Every current non-GM foodcrop is still a result of breeding manipulation, as are live stock and pets).
Turbolapp: Female rats do it because the children are not sexually active yet, and from a purely survival view point, it's better to have the energy to escape and breed some more later... they can pump out a new litter in 6 weeks time after all.
It makes me think that Soylent Green processing plants possibly could potentially rejuvinate the economy and get rid of a lot of people that are sponging from welfare!

My guess is that they get so screwed up that they truly start to believe it's the only option, and that their final moments are filled with plenty of "forgive me fathers" and "dear lord I'm sorry" utterances. Of course, that's all speculation, given that I've never gone off the deep end and massacred my family.
This is so sad. There are other ways to earn. They shouldn't have lost hope.
