Masturbation - Stop Touching Yourself

I tried no porn for 2 weeks. I found myself thinking sexual thoughts far more often; it was very distracting. In my opinion I was less productive than if I had just "taken the edge off" every day

I've been thinking more about this, the science behind it is all about the dopamine rush your brain is addicted to. How is that different from any other activity that we enjoy? for example I play guitar, you could say I'm addicted to it because I constantly have a yearning feeling to pick it up and practice. When I'm practicing and I get a tricky solo down, it is very rewarding and reinforces the habit.

Because playing the guitar is cool and gets bitches, while beating off all the time makes you a dirty pervert?

There are good addictions ( running, biking, guitar, painting) and bad addictions ( jacking off, television, drugs). All you need is common sense to tell you the difference

It's ironic how bad addictions fuel innovation and improvement for society as a whole, yet we all secretly shun them on public and private levels, hating ourselves that they are around at all.

Porn and Sports were what drove VHS into common use, overcoming even Big Entertainment's copyright lawsuits and Betamax, which paved the way for so many marketing and sales models in television. They did the same for the Internet, and in tern revolutionized all forms of marking and distribution, turned sales models on their heads, and made every industry richer for it on multiple levels because their viewers learned and applied from examples.

I'll agree that, on a productivity level, abstaining is in your best interest, but if you want to keep up with innovation and new ways to make money--the adult industry is where it's all coming from 5+ years before it hits mainstream.

It takes 4-5 months for a young adult to re-adjust. Your two weeks did not cover that.

I'm about 10 days in. Can't say it has been particularly easy, but I've been on diets harder than this. I've noticed my libido actually slacking off the last couple days. I've also noticed that I've generally felt better - more energy, I've generally felt a little more optimistic.

I'm willing to try this out for a while - I noticed some people are up in arms about this but I don't see the harm to trying. No one is forcing anything on anyone. I've been jacking off for the past 15 years, a month or two month experiment is not going to kill me.

Longest I've lasted without masturbating, since I started jerking at around 15, was about 6 weeks. The first week is the hardest, the next two aren't too bad.

It's that next week that waking up to a stiff starts to imped a solid night's sleep if you roll in your sleep. So you'll start considering working it out before bed. If you you are one of the lucky ones that can actually fall asleep on your back, kudos. If you're like me and can only sleep in a few choice positions, all of which involve either being on your side or stomach at specific angles... feelsbadman.

That's not considered bad though, but I'm sure it's the same thing happening in the brain. Where is the line between a good addiction and a bad addiction?

she put me in the friend zone so i put her in the rape zone.

Do you cum when you play guitar?

Ha get the point. I'm actually a musician too and also do it for the 'high' so know what you mean. But not all highs are the same chemically as far as I know even if they use dopamine. And with sex vs masturbation there are chemicals released when touching someone you don't get when by yourself.

Think the issue with porn is the novelty aspect, searching for lots of images. Also usually with music you stay on a more even course while listening to it as opposed to the sudden rush of masturbation.

Bump.

I made it 4 weeks. Since this is a public forum, I'll limit my comments, but here they are:

1. I am a bad scientist, in that for 3 weeks, I was cycled on D-Aspartic Acid (DAA - natural testosterone booster). Changed two variables at the same time = bad experiment.

2. Overall, the pro's EASILY outweigh the cons of doing this.

3. After a week, things start falling into place well. After 3 weeks, the amount of physical and mental control and power is really awesome... basically once I figured myself out a nice little system.

4. The second I 'quit', I regretted it, "it" wasn't that good, and a few things in my life slightly fell apart the next day. There was a NOTICEABLE difference in my brain chemistry.

1b. Also I joined a new swim club that practices in mornings and is rocking me. Another changed variable. I can't tell if it was the nofap, the harder practices, or the DAA (probably a combination of all three)... but my athletic performance has seriously increased over the past month, without a doubt.

I'm not so sure about all the "mental focus" nonsense, but overall, life is better and more fun with nofap.

In the future, I'd say there's only two real options -- fap once a week (constant testosterone spiking / torture through day 6 though!)... or nofap.

If I was single, I'd be a lot less productive for those first 3 weeks though. Would be texting chicks left and right and getting dates at night, no doubt. So be prepared for a dip in productivity in that sense if you are single.

Deal breaker for me.

I was able to lay off of it for a while (4+ weeks) in college when I had a girlfriend but since then I've decided to put business first so the trade off is not worth it for me right now.

Biggest race of the year coming up in August, wanted to do a quick run to see if it'd help. Will probably go back on starting July 5 for a month and be done with it.

So the real answer to your question is "I didn't" :)

yeah because if no fapping = more testosterone, I wouldn't see the point in taking a T booster while you're on a no-fap month. Testosterone overdose man. :)

i touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

(touched myself dozens of times in the last few weeks. I like it)
