Muslim girl, 19, 'stoned to death after taking part in beauty contest'

The OP is an idiot.

police said her killing had nothing to do with sectarian violence and that the girl had been killed by a psychologically troubled classmate who had given her a lift on his moped and then robbed and possibly raped her before battering her to death with a rock.

"A student did it, killing his classmate. There is no other underlying reason, neither religious nor linked with inter-ethnic conflicts," said Sergei Reznikov, a senior policeman involved in the case.

I equate gun deaths to cancer. If there was a cure for cancer, everyone would want it. There's a cure for all the shootings but no one seems to care or even want it.

That's how it looks from the outside looking in...just sayin'

Switzerland has much more lax gun laws than many US states, but yet their crime rate with a weapon is far lower. Citizens can own fully automatics there with no problem, as well as handguns, etc - but their violent crime rate (especially with handguns) is fat lower than Chicago or Washington DC which had 100% gun bans.

Explain that?

Going to rock the boat with this one, but I get where he is coming from.

On average around 155,000 people die each day worldwide. Not all of them die of natural causes and some die downright violent deaths that are not related to religion, or more specifically, a particular religion.

People get killed violently for all sorts of reasons and motivations; greed, simple hate; religion is just one of the many reasons violent murder happens.

Being shot multiple times, being burned alive, being drowned, being stabbed, slashed and raped all occur along with others. Yet no-one seems to want to post about them unless it ties in with a particular religion.

You want ultra violent and barbaric, start with South Africa, Central America, and South America, with homicide rates of 37.3% 29.3% and 25.9% per 100,000 inhabitants. Still I don't see anyone posting here about some of the horrific natures of these particular murders. Main stream media also avoids it as well. Why...because they have their favorite punching bag and it comes in the form of a religion.

I'm not a Muslim; I was born into the your typical Anglo religion and made my own mind up about it all. I would describe myself as an agnostic atheist. To sensationalize a horrific murder because of religion makes no sense to me, not unless you give fair coverage to all the other horrible things that go on.

Murder is ugly enough, especially violent, barbaric murder. She was murdered...it doesn't matter what religion the person or persons that perpetrated this were in the grand scheme of things, because on that day more people died just as violently, if not more so, for completely retarded reasons. I feel sorry for her and anyone else who dies in such a horrific fashion.

Flame away. :D

You have no idea what its like in Saudi Arabia... Those Motherfuckers are crazy dude...

When I was in Dubai a few years ago for New Year they wouldn't let us buy Alchohol becouse we didn't have a "licence"

Not as many blacks in Switzerland?

I'll take it back to the whole cancer analogy. Not all cancers are malignant. Some are benign.

In the States guns seem to be a malignant cancer.

Please note even though this next bit is not intended to offend the U.S. members of this board, I am under no illusion that it more than likely will, and I apologize beforehand. I know you won't accept it (the apology) but it is simply an observation.

America itself seems to have a serious predisposition towards violence. I don't know why that is but it just seems to be that way.

I figure it this way; you don't put a drug addict in a room full of drugs, or, if you have a child with a violent disposition, you hide all the knives and things that can be used as weapons. No one seems interested in "hiding the knives" is the States.

I know my opinion means nothing to most and I seriously doubt anything I say here will sway anyone's point of view so I will close off by saying I have nothing against anyone from America; I just have a problem with people dying for no good reason when it seems in part at least, that some of the problems could be avoided or taken out of the equation in the first place.

Well said man. As an American even I can concur. (And yes I own a shotgun and keep it where I can reach it late at night...)

I believe the root of the problem is in our ultra-laziness. I'll skip the corporate-overlord speech for now and just leave it at how general laziness leads to doing things out of violence that you wouldn't have had to do if you were a proactive, upstanding citizen.

When we Americans fall, we fall hard.

You should investigate more about the news you put on your website, because Katya Koren is actually a 19 year-old Christian woman originally from Russia, who had been missing in Sovyetskiy-Crimea for a week according to Crimean Tatar responsibles. The murder was not committed because of any religious reason, whether Islam or Christianity, but after sexual harrasment by Bilal Gaziyev, 16, a Crimean Tatar. I wonder what's the problem with putting religion in everything and provoking people. It is a shame that we can't even trust the news we read.

What does this make you people commenting negatively about a religion, without even doing 5 minutes research?

I have found sheep that made smarter comments in the form of bleh blaat and blew blew

EDIT: she is Hawt! ^_^ too bad : (

The smartest guy in this thread! :love-smiley-013:

Citizens are allowed to keep their govt issued rifles under lock and key in their homes so that the country can mobilize all able bodied men in the country in a matter of hours/days if the country needed to.

A key difference is that getting access to ammunition is fucking difficult. You cant just hop on down to the local Walmart a pick up a few bricks of ammo.
Another factor in the equation is that Switzerland is a largely homogeneous country filled with a bunch of white folks who are all pretty much the same and are raised to be respectful, law abiding citizens, and all males must serve in the military, thereby creating an additional nationwide "brotherhood of arms" but I'll leave that discussion for another time.

Gun crime statistics by US state: download the data. Visualised | World news | guardian.co.uk

I like to look at numbers.. Some things that I'm noticing :

Vermont and New Hampshire have very weak gun control laws. Despite this, they have the 1st and 3rd lowest amount of gun murders. Vermont had zero for 2009. In Vermont, no permit is needed to open or concealed carry a handgun.

Indiana (mostly white people) has a higher murder rate than Texas and California (40% whites).

The mostly white Missouri and Kansas have some of the highest gun murder rates.

Going by this here, 5 states in the USA have lower firearm murder rates than Switzerland.
