My quest to reach 30k a year in IM - From the ground up

Great thread and good luck to you! I love the targeting capabilities with Facebook ads, but it gets expensive fairly quickly if you're ads aren't converting.

Day3: Stuck on Facebook

Ok, I'm still plugging away on Facebook...The money on there sure does burn fast! I've tried about 4 different products with very little success! One product I was advertising I found the link was broken :sadcrying4:...I couldn't believe it! So, I had to suspend the entire campaign.

I just tried another product but Facebook shot down my advertisement for some reason. I did mention the word "free" in there so I don't know if that was the problem. I mean, it says free on the lander so I don't know what the hell their problems are.

I've been searching the Googles for another Facebook coupon.. So far I'm out 60 bucks on Facebook with a 4 dollar intake. I'm hoping for some really good conversions to makeup for everything.

So in total, today, I've gotten about 55 clicks with 0 conversions.. I don't know if this is normal for Facebook. Maybe it's the landers. I'm still going to be plugging away here trying to get something to convert solid. I'll be planning on moving to organic here soon! I promise :). This PPC stuff has gotten me all tied up. I created about 15 ads on there! I'll be going to the Yahoo search network here soon.

If anybody has some advice, I'm open! BTW I do want to thank everybody for the wonderful supportive comments on my thread. I really do hope I can hit my IM goals here. With the perseverance I carry, this should be possible.

You can't use Facebook coupons unless it's a new account. Unless you plan on getting new CCs/accounts I wouldn't bother looking for coupons.

DAY:4

Thanks for the info! Today I've spent my 100 dollars on Facebook. I've gotten a total of 14 dollars return.. I'll have to figure out a way to get better conversions if I don't want to go negative when I start investing my own cash! Anyways, I'm about to move on to the Yahoo network and test the waters. I'm getting one hundred something bucks in ad credit for only 30 bucks. I'll post the link as soon as I dig it out of my email :). I think I made some poor decisions with the Facebook advertising. If I could go back, I would have only tried to target a max of two products. I kinda went over board with like 5 different things.

I'm going to take the two products that converted the best for me and move on to Yahoo. After I've burned through the yahoo network, maybe I can go on to Google and so on. I'll probably end up back at Facebook though:). I kinda like their advertising there. I can't really say to much though since I haven't gotten the experience on the others. I'll be sure to post my review on everything as I go along.

My husband has a Facebook account and I was wondering if he might be able to grab a 100 dollar advertising credit from them as well. That though has been lingering with me all day. Do any of you know if they would flag both of our accounts? I don't want our FB accounts banned.

I've been talking with my AM and PPC has been the preferred method to make money in IM. I'm still determined to go the organic route on a good product, but it seems like CPA offers do very well in the PPC world.

So here's the questions I've got:

Question 1: Can I have my husband signup for Facebook ads and get a 100 dollar credits without getting flagged?

Question 2: Is PPC/CPM the preferred method for affiliates? *Most of the people I've talked to almost all say they only focus on these models. How many people are going the organic route?

Here's the link for the Yahoo search network. I'll be purchasing a yahoo credits this evening. 30 bucks for 130 bucks is a win win :). After I move into Yahoo I'll be moving forward to Google then Bing! Anyways, here's the link to anybody who's looking for some ad credits.

Advertising Your Business with Yahoo! Search Marketing

I'll be getting my husband to try and get his 100 dollar credit on Facebook as well. We'll see how this all pans out, I'm pretty excited. This n00b is about to start making some money :). I've planned to tackle the PPC first. I think this is the fastest route to actually make money in IM. Once I've tested a few products, I want to narrow one down to make a lander and market it for organic searches. Stay tuned!

Was this sarcastic? :)

Many people tell me this is a low ball.

Don't listen to dipshits that are trying to tell you what your goals should be (is there really anything more pointless than debating somebody about their own goals?). Better to set the bar at 30K and see that you really are getting close to meeting that goal than to set your goal at 150K/month only to realize it's not (currently) even remotely possible and give up.

Once you hit your first goal, revise it up.

I am waiting on a reply from Facebook to see if my husband would be able to get the 100 Visa credit as well. Once I hear back from them, I will have a clearer picture of what direction I want to take. I will give an update tomorrow.

I'm still waiting for Faceshit. I've read a couple threads where people say not to even bother with this network. Any suggestions? I've also been thinking about a couple of other things.

1. Should I buy a cheap .info domain for my marketing? If so, should I 301 over to the product lander? I've seen people talking about double 301's and things of that nature.

2. Should I stay away from Facebook and move on to the big 3 (Google, Bing, and Yahoo)?

Faceshitty hasn't gotten back to me yet.. I'm still waiting...

DAY 4: Moving Along

Ok, I just registered a domain on Godaddy and used a coupon code because I'm a cheap bitch. Anybody looking to register a new domain/renewal can use the coupon code hash7. It's for 7.60 domains for 2009. Anyways, I think I've hit on something pretty good here. I've been doing some keyword research and think I have turned up a niche with really no competition. There are keywords that get searched almost 10,000 times a month with only a 5 cent bid for the top 3 position in Adwords.

This niche I'll be able to hit with both PPC and organic SEO. I plan on dominating this niche and making a ton of money. I've just created a new folder on my Godaddy hosting account that I'll be throwing wordpress on. I plan on making this a review site, so we'll see where this takes me. I do have a few questions about the search volume Google is showing though.

Google is showing there are 10,000 searches within the USA for my one keyword. Google is also showing there are about 29,000 searches for this keyword globally. Could I still capitalize off the global market somehow?

I'm in the process of setting up my wordpress right now. I'll list the plugins I plan on using. I want to use the Gdstar review for my site reviews. I'm also going to be scoping out a list manager for wordpress.. I might look into using Mail Chimp for my list.

Good thing this is a specific niche I'm actually passionate about. So it should be easy for me to write up some reviews and content.

Well, I've got some good news! Facebook got back to me and said it's per Visa card. So +rep to the person who said this on my thread. This was TRUE info. If they decide to ban both our Facebook accounts, I'll pull this email up and send it to them! Here's the exact email.

"Unfortunately, only one VISA coupon can be issued per credit card. We appreciate your understanding. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for contacting Facebook,

Hey just wondering, how did you manage to get the $100 credit from Visa? I signed up to the business network months ago but the offer had already expired months before that.

Interesting stuff, best of luck to you! Be sure not to share your niches with anyone! ;) Keep that shiz tip top secret!!
