I suck at finding negative keywords, anyone care to share any pointers on generating negative keywords. I saw one guy on here say he has like 1000 in one campaign

I usually use "free" for negative keyword

but that really depends on what product you are promoting.

That's the basic stuff that I do also. I was wondering if anyone goes a little deeper than that.

just use a kw generator and pick out the kw's that are generated but have nothing to do with your business

its usually a combination of stuff you can come up with, negatives from a kw generator.

My most effective negatives have just been from letting it run for a while, then going through p202 and finding the ones that don't convert. ( look for some common phrases/words)

I often market things that are likely to have another word attached to them as a search string, but that other word makes it a whole new ball game.

Example: I've marketed some costume stuff specifically geared at anime fans. Now, there's a lot of cross over between series, but the merchant I was pushing didn't have costumes from certain shows, so I used those show titles as negatives to make sure I wasn't wasting views or clicks on those people looking for outfits that I knew the merchant didn't have.

So I'd have terms like: "naruto cosplay" -sasuke

(yes, lame, I know... but wapanese have more dollars than sense)

i run my campaigns for a few days with my main keywords (money makers) on phrase match then pick out the negatives from p202*. if you do it every few days your campaigns get tighter and tighter. its the same principle as ditching duff domains from the content network by analyzing your placement reports. my lists can get pretty big this way, definately up in the high 100's of negatives.

for instance i was running some diet campaigns a few weeks back in the uk and i kept seeing "is xxxx available in boots" and similar. so i added "boots" to my negative list and conversions rates jumped accordingly.

you'll also find that after you've built a few of these they become very reusable (with slight tweaking) for similar products in the same vertical so you can get future quite high coverage campaigns up and running fairly painlessly.

* its a lot easier to work through a csv of these instead of copy pasting from p202 so you might want to download the csv report
(fyi boots is a large pharmacy chain in the uk)

the word SCAM is bad or CONTACT RIPOFF anything to do with wanting to get contact with company or re searching scams , i had lots of people click on my ads when dint use those keywords

Funny you say that, But for me "Scam" actually converts sometimes (actually worth keeping the word) I don't even understand it. I guess I convince them with my LP.

I remove the words - contact, phone, complaint, complain, address (enough to get you started)
Also, I have negative sites - ripoffreport.com, complaintsboard.com
