Called What To Use. The idea is to share/find "tools" to use based on what similarly-minded people are using. Tools in reference to web apps, services, mobile apps, technologies, etc. I really wanted to keep it open to just about anything.

I'm just curious what the Wicked Fire community thinks of it. Does it have any legs. Do you see any value in such a service? How could I make it better.

Any feedback would be appreciated, you can check it out at What To Use | Always use the right tool.

Cheers,

Penguin

First impression, I don't even know how to use the site. It's not intuitive enough. Closed it within 10 seconds.

Put user login and explanation in the middle wide rectangle 1000x300px, under it list those apps with like 250x100px boxes each with 3 in a row so that it's instantly obvious there are tons of apps, right now all I can see is codepad and google webmaster tools and I have no idea what it does

Edit: here's how I'd change your layout

Real classy having a Google custom search box. Super duper massive fail.

It's got potential. Definitely needs a UI makeover. See below.

Perfect example of a great UI design.

The idea is really good. Trash your current site and hand over the design to someone that knows how to do it.

3rd for UI overhaul. A website that prompts me to 'login or create account' right away before I even know what it is supposed to do or can do... gets closed.

User login box taking up 50% of the screen real estate while I browse is pretty annoying.

Real-Time Web Analytics | What To Use - that page doesn't really get me any closer to using one product over another. I.E. what's the value of that page? Now if it said 42 people use APP1, 18 people use APP2 and lets me click through to reviews now there's value.

man it's a harsh thursday morning here. first of all, congrats on building and launching something, that's an accomplishment no matter how useful it is.

The idea is good. I might actually visit this website myself.

The design however is weak. I would follow grazies template. Its just plain sensible. I wouldn't give up on the project though because I see value in it from a customers/visitors standpoint. Also, get optimzely or VWO. Don't just start changing things blind.

I have a 160 iq. I'm looking at this site, and realizing what it must feel like to be a normal person going through life.

I'm. So. Fucking. Confused.

Maybe the idea (whatever it is) is good. However the UI/UX is so bad I got lost and pushed my desk over cursing in frustration.

2/10 corners too pointy.

Edit:

Read the OP description.

Idea is fair enough. Execution is ungodly bad. And calling it a web app is a bit of a stretch as it doesn't -do- anything.
