Great thread for expanding your mind. Imagine doing the same thing with an incentivized Blockbuster or similar offer that pays you $40-50. The trick is figuring out what content someone would be willing to complete that type of offer for.

How about setting up .mov files to pop pages? These still work.
The OLD SKOOL way of p2p advertising is encoding WMV files with DRM key requests. When the surfer tries to open these files they get a request page. You can tweak these request pages for them to go to a site to get a key, etc.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Prior to Windows Media Player 9, WMP had its default set to URL popping in WMV files. You set up the encoder to pop a url after x seconds and the person watching the movie will see his browser open the url automatically. Early promoters of Oxcash (the name of the company originally behind Bangbus) made nice chunks of change marketing this way. Then again, WMP 9 put an end to the fun and now it's just DRM, MOV files, and P2P hash banks

I tryed it with 2 torrents i made, its been over 24 hours on both and I made around $20 on this. I only submitted the torrents to pirate bay, no other places.

I tried to figure out how to do that key thing for wmvs i never figured it out i was pretty sure if i thought about that one i could have really made some cash there, now you say media player 9 doesnt let you do that anymore? I bet some people made a ton doing that

Made a credit repair guide (In this case, a bunch of PLR articles) zipped it up, put a password on it from the 2nd page of a zip submit landing page and made a quick little offer page on my site that im linking to from Squidoo etc. Had a couple leads so far, nothing fantastic but its nice to finally make some money..

Hey guys to make the rar file more intresting use a NFO Generator and add it to your comments in the rar file and add colors n shit..so when they open up the rar they can easily cut copy paste the url ..so no need to ectract n shit for finding the password it will be easier and mroe people will do it 
..also make sure you dont make it look too spammy..i have had thousands of downloads of files ..and always put the password as a site url of the site i want them to visit ..best of luck with helping more people jack off

ohh and btw you can also upload files to rapidshare and get point off it and get yourself a new shiny account to download more quality porn and then upload to torrents ..always mix and match download files and make them torrents..and download torrents make them files..i can assure you it will be more popular..as when you upload a new torrent when seeders are less many people dont bother downloading ..also make your friends post comments on the torrent as it was fucking amazing or something..that also makes torrents more popular...

haha nooooo my traffic secret has been exposed based upon a single word SEED, SEED, And get more people to SEED and then SEED some more.
I've had some success with this, its a bit tricky at some points because some torrent sites will remove your listings if its a .rar or .exe file, better safe to go with a .rar with a .nfo files though, people fucking hate .exe and password protected files on the networks.
But it works I'm actually doing a little test with it on a few different things, maybe I'll do a write up soon or later but its sweet when you get the newest releases (Like the DVD quality version of 300 or the new linkin park CD) that is still a month away from coming out in stores.
With those ones I can hit like 1000 seeders sometimes, this is great because with more seeders means more leachers, their will always be more leachers but with Seeders they are helping spread your file around a lot quicker and more people come to download it.
So the key as $5 Submissions has kindly pointed out is to get more people to SEED your file so it'll be downloaded by the leachers quicker, and as I said if you stick with .nfo and .rar files over .exe files you'll do much better, its just the way people trust shit now a days.
But another problem that I find about doing this is the problem with .rar files with movies, more people are stopping downloading .rar files with movies because of the flood of passwords that don't work, music files still seem to do awesome but its kick ass people like aXXo who upload the quality DVD versions without it being compressed and no passwords which make people trust .rar files less and less because they know they can easily get the real version if its not a .rar file.
Plus a movie file runs you like 700 MB as a new music CD only runs you around 100 MB, your able to get seeders quicker but again with a .rar file you'll get commentors saying hey does this have a password or others posting your password so that also sucks ass, umm ok this post is getting long but one very last point is if you can also get one commentor who downloaded the file to say "Its real and kicks ass" without posting the files password then your seeders and leachers will quickly go up.
Its a pretty sweet viral marketing technique if you know how to avoid your networks TOS or the various other copywrite laws floating around.
I probably should mention their is another way to do this and its going to earn you MUCH MUCH MUCH (I cannot stress this fact enough) more respect then encrypting a file with a password.
You see everyone is going to yell FAKE or the majority of them will which will fuck with your files, a trick is to completely avoid encrypting the file at all, just let them have it and include a read me file with a sales copy or something with your URL, an overall message saying your welcome now visit my site you fool.
Well not in those exact words but you get the point, this will have a far less conversion rate based upon your password protected files but you should get more downloads which is a good source of free traffic to your websites for the people interested enough to visit your site.
Plus if they are interested enough to visit your site then yeah they will be the ones that probably will end up converting.

Of course add a text file also in the collection with the same ask for favor and directions.

What about putting the instructions and link in an .html file in the torrent? Seems like that would make it easier to get clicks.
