The issue is not socialism. The concept behind a democracy is that people vote, majority picks the winner, then everyone waits 4 years and does it again.
Now under your version it would be "Everybody votes, majority picks the winner, then everyone else whines and fucks the country over"
Part of the democracy idea is that you live with whoever the country picks. I know I certainly didn't like it when Bush was president, and I criticized the fuck out of him. But that said, he was what the democracy picked(at least the second time), so sometimes you just have to deal. I know my taxes went to fund a war I didn't want. But I'm still a US citizen, so I paid anyways.

For a country that lives above its means and has 300 million people, our welfare program spends less than almost every other country in the world.

True there wasn't welfare or entitlements, BUT, early republicans were the abolitionists, they fought for equality and fed the hungry and gave shelter to the homeless. They funded educating the poor. These are facts. Study republican party history from reconstruction thru jim crow thru civil right era.

Today's republican party is so far away from it's roots that many of today's so called republicans have no clue of what the party founders stood for.

Original republicans saw the poor as people to be helped. Today's republicans judge & look down on the poor & say "pull yourself up by your own boot straps."

I personally don't think that pie chart validated your argument at all. Quite the contrary.

I don't agree with the bailout either but at least in a few years we'll (hopefully) get some of it returned as the "investments" yield some revenue. It's also a 1 time thing where welfare/unemployment just keeps milking our tax dollars year after year.

$324 BILLION is a ton of money ... 11% doesn't look like the least of our problems, rather the 4th largest.

Obama wants to spread the wealth around more than the previous administration. That means a larger slice of the pie for welfare & bigger tax breaks to people already not helping our society.

Well said, McCain is not a republican at all, nor is any other party member save RP. The current republican party is an embarrassment to what a true conservative stands for.

It's been mentioned here that the media isn't biased. That it doesn't have an agenda. Has anyone given this any thought? --

Hilary Clinton would have probably won the Democratic endorsement if they (the media) had broken the story of John Edwards' affair & possible love child...out cheating on his wife, while she was at home battling cancer, when they first knew about it.

They knew about it MONTHS before they actually reported on it. It was Edwards' candidacy that siphoned off the Hilary vote. (many Edwards supporters said they would have voted for Hilary if Edwards wasn't running).

Why did the media hold off on reporting on this until Edwards had dropped out and (longer still) until Obama had pretty much clinched the Democratic spot for Presidential canidate?

If this breaking news had been on one of the Republican canidates, they'd have been on that like stink on shit! Not that I'm a Hilary supporter, but the news media deeply influenced who your choice for the Democratic canidate is today, by there actions (or inactions). Hilary was robbed. That race was so close that some of the Dems were worried that she might have called for a popularity vote/vote of confidence at the convention. (and she might have won that vote, too).

Every good leader/manager/coach knows that in order to succeed you have to stick to the principles that made you successful in the first place.

We are moving away from those principles and headed in the direction of Europe. They are in shambles. Political correctness, social engineering and just plain fear has brough Europe to their knees.

Europe has tried so hard to please everyone and to shun all Christian beliefs, that in 20 years they will probably be governed by a Muslim theocracy.

I refuse to argue with a child...I already have a 10 year old in my house that I am currently de-programming from all the pro-Obama shit fed to class by her elementary school teacher.
