Overheated Laptops

It's a known issue with Toshibas. Like someone above said, it's the location of the fans.

Personally never had issues like this with my Thinkpad - duno maybe something to do with the ingenius engineering of putting fans on the side. I really don't get the thought process of putting a fan on the bottom where airflow gets cut >.>

I did get an cooling fan, but it didn't really do much good so brought it back to the shop. Let us know how you get on with yours.

the hp dv2000 lappy I'm on right now has a sanded down pre 1982 copper penny in between the gpu and the heatsink. I shit you not, it dropped the gpu temps by almost 30 degrees celsius.

That's crazy awesome! How did you attach it?

I am getting a retro vibe from dchuk... that is probably going to be the most reliable and longest lasting part that will be attached to that machine... apart from the cmos battery..

Some of that arctic 5 stuff that you would normally use to attach a heatsink. It's a known defect on this model lappy, they used this heat transfer sponge shit that shrinks after about 6 months. Literally could boil water on the thing sometimes it got so hot.

Slipped a penny in there and dramatically lowered the temps. Crazy.

In my experience, it's usually the fan or the heat sink. The Toshiba Satellite I'm on right now, one of my friends threw it away because it kept overheating. but everytime he got it repaired, it would just keep doing it.

I but a new fan from ebay and blew out the vent with a can of air. Then I replaced the hard drive because the heat had warped it.

Then the bastard kept trying to get his working laptop back.

Tell that fucking bastard to pay u for it if he wants it back now.
is he jewish or indian by the way?
