Place to Live with Wide Open Land

1 mil max? forget about anywhere on the west coast of Canada then...

you're lucky to get a fucking apartment for 800K....1 mil would get you a house in the suburbs probably.

Land is certainly a lot cheaper away from the city of Vancouver. Since he wants wide open spaces and not some apartment in the city or house in the burbs he could get some fantastic property just about anywhere in the province for 1 mil. Think the Shuswap, Vernon, Penticton, Kelowna, Prince George, somewhere outside of Squamish, north of Whistler, Sunshine Coast, one of the gulf islands, Vancouver Island, etc.

Fuck the mountains, FL ftw. You can get ocean front property from the mid 5 figs. It's dirt cheap down here right now... if I wasn't on my bb I'd google it for ya.

Ideally I'd live here and pick up a nice isolated mountain property up north similar to what you guys are describing only less extravagant.

Good luck finding hot chicks out in the middle of east bum fuck.

A ballin' ocean front property... get's you laid. Plain and simple.

You can get great scenery like that on Vancouver Island just north of Victoria for under a mill. Look at Coombs, Duncan, Chemainus, the areas around there.

For the internationally minded, basically all of the Gold Coast, Australia has amazing scenery, you just need to work to find the quiet bits. Those places will run you a lot more than a mill though, some go for $15+ million.

Jackson, Wyoming
Fuck Wyoming. Worst place ever!
Colorado is cool. I lived there for 6 months, and before that I was in San Francisco (talk about total opposites). Check out Boulder. It's a cool college town with all the conveniences, plus scenery like the one in that picture. Denver's also nice if you want the best of both worlds (city and rural). You really can't beat having a view of the Rockies.

You will get a nice ocean front place in Spain for <€1mil.

you obviously haven't been to jackson/pinedale, but i think that area is overrated (in every sense) compared to places further north. still much cooler than anywhere in colorado except telluride though.

OP: it would be a good idea to just take a long road trip around that part of the US/Canada and see what you like then sit on it for a while before making a decision.

And the BBQ at Bubbas is pretty good, not Montgomery Inn in Cincinatti good, but pretty good.

I guess given my job and income, moving to a no state income tax state would probably be preferred as well. So perhaps Washington or Wyoming.

Wow, this is exactly what I want. The location doesn't work for me though - no US citizenship. :-( That price is ridiculously good though, holy.

don't think I'd ever spend that kind of coin on real estate again, unless you plan on living there for at least 10-20 years. That pad above is nice, but would rather it be up in Northern Idaho or Jackson, which both would be more expensive. Check out Bend, Oregon. You can have a monster pad there right now for under $500k, good outdoor weather all year (if you're into winter sports), awesome beer, and quick access to PDX, SEA, SFO and SLC.

Dude, just move to Norway. :)
Plenty of scenery and places like that.

Here's scenery from right outside my house:

well, where can I get those wonder houses for cheap? I just quit my apartment and have 3 months to leave.. no idea where to go. and a lease for a few months in florida has been an option

@Uber: Check out Switzerland if you want cheap taxes + nice scenery.

You might like Asheville, NC.

I'm considering moving to the Cheyenne, WY area about 90 miles north of Denver, CO.

Seeing these prices makes me realize how expensive the SF bay area is... These houses would easily be in the 3+ mil range for that kind of land and house.

they'd be much more than that, Los Altos hills has minimum 1 acre lots however this isn't that much space. For something with real space you're really limited and in the $5+ range.

Select Atherton, Woodside, etc properties.

Buy a MANSION in thailand, you can hire 10 full time maids, and the cost is probably 30k USD.

How's internet access in Thailand?

Actually for those prices you could get some nice really big houses near my home at Galicia, Spain.
