Some users had charges set as authorized but not seattled. Some of you would have a string of charges seattled last week. This should all be fine from now on.

We are going to enable ads on all pages of the site tomorrow, many of you will see a massive increase in traffic.

Whats strange is that you spend money but don't keep track of your credit card? I get alerts sent to my cell phone as soon as I use my CC anywhere so its like 'yeah i spent that money'. Not getting alerts = something going wrong.

I keep an eye on getting overcharged or unauthorized charges, but generally dont expect to NOT be charged.

My cash flow is a tangle - multiple credit cards, multiple paypals, daily charges from multiple facebook accounts, multiple search engines and other traffic sources etc, in various currencies... If I had sms alerts my phone wouldn't stop beeping all day and night.

WTF?

I just had 13 separate charges come through from POF on my credit card, maxing it out.

I checked and hadn't been charged since November and the numbers add up. However the 5% swing in the exchange rate in that time burned my cash for no reason whatsoever.

Hoping this is a one time hiccup or are we always going to get charged once a month???

With these little surprises I'm wondering if my money is better spent elsewhere. And yes, I should keep better track of whats happening on my credit card.

Yeah I just had 25 different charges today =\

POF impression pages changing, and algorithm changing.....

Markus,

Do you agree that conversions are not stable right now because of all the backend changes going on?

Conversions dropped since ads started being served everytime someone logs in..

Conversions also seem to be effected by the new pages.. (profile, etc )... I think this is because many ads have not been tested on the new pages... so conversions change.

Do you expect these type of changes to continue for a few weeks? How long until you find your sweet spot and lock it?

Its hard to build a campaign , test it, and scale it when the backend is constantly changing....... and I think existing ads start under performing when new 'ad pages ' get introduced...

Your thoughts?

I haven't changed anything yet, conversions are unstable because if you are outbid you won't show up in places like the inbox which has a far higher conversion rate for some reason but lower CTR.

Thank you for the answer Markus! By jacking up our CPM to be shown in the Inbox we're simultaneously jacking it up in the other areas of the site that aren't as profitable. Is there going to be a way to segment where the ads are displayed? Similar to choosing session depth, frequency, etc.?

I tried raising the CPM significantly but ended up just paying more for the same level of traffic. This resulted in a loss because everything stayed the same except spending. :)

Not asking to know the sweet spot...I'm just trying to figure out how to come up with a happy medium so that we're not underpaying in one area and grossly overpaying in another by means of the same bid.

Converisons are really low, i think its just that im tryina to promote a damn mens rebill. And why is it that i see dating ads all around but yet when i try and add couple they don't get approved.
I think im spending enough money, 1400+ a day should be at least something to get some type of better support.

I think something with the gender targeting is messed up. I'm logged in as a male test account, I see my ads showing that are targeted to females only.

Damn it!

I see people copying my ads there EXACTLY(with pic, headline and description)!!! :321:

May be some dude copied your ads too and decided to run'em on opp gender! :smilie_weihn_winki:

Conversions have dropped significantly for me every single day until these past two days not one of the 10+ offers I am running is profitable. Oh well, I guess I will come back when the site is more stable.

Seems to be a consistent issue colorfast. We have had steady declines whether we raise or lower CPMs. Ads are strong performers elsewhere and were strong on POF as well. Right now, we're paying more for less, almost to the brink of losses. Strange how it's consistently declined like a bell curve.

Right now, it's a game of testing, retesting, and staying ahead of those who simply pilfer your ads. It's rampant but almost unstoppable. Lazy people kill ROI for those who put the work in.

But ad duping aside, the network is definitely lower in quality right now. Hopefully it'll turn. I thought the opening of traffic inventory would help but revenue is flat. Up elsewhere, flat or declining here. Simply overpaying for results that don't change with the boost in spending.

It's part of the game and I just hope to weather the storm while they get things in line and out of Beta. Strong potential and a great system but it's just getting it's legs right now.

That's weird mine have been stable. As marcus said, it may be a matter of what pages you're showing on. Try bidding higher, you may be seeing the same amount of traffic but it's possibly you conversions will jump. you doing dating?
