Yeeeeeeaaah. Pretty sure the house mathematical edge on roulette is like 5%+. Which makes it one of the worst games for casino patrons, with slots coming in a close second.
Poker can be a lot more lucrative than people think, but only when you know the game. Poker is a lot like sex, everyone thinks they're a god at it, but only a small % actually know what they are doing. But, yes, variance and what-not can be a bitch and running a business is way better, imo. But there's a shit-ton of money to be made at the poker tables, even at the lower-limit games, in a place like Vegas. Pretty sure an average wage among disciplined winners at a game like 2-5NL was around $30/hour, which beats most jobs out here.
