One odd thing I've noticed is that while I hate ads, I still gladly pay for video games on Steam. Even single-player games, I haven't pirated a game since maybe 2004 or something when trying to get GTA 3 on IRC. It was such a hassle to get the games to work sometimes or have the god damn music missing from the game.

I can't or never will bring myself to purchase movies or music. I don't like on demand services and I even torrent shows that are on Hulu despite my gf having a subscription because I can't stand the ads. I will gladly pay for video games though.

Btw piratebros if you are into diy / home server stuff check out Plex. I installed it on an laptop running ubuntu server and it streams all of my shows and media. Add the files and tags it into pretty folders with meta art, descriptions and show descriptions.

I haven't seen any good statistics on this, but I'm pretty sure most people aren't aware they are clicking on ads, especially on search engines, like JulianTrueFlynn said.

Advertising isn't broken. It works.

While I bet 5 or more was wearing Beats headphones..

This current generation is as easy to market to as anyone else. The arrogance they have just makes it that much easier really. Really the only reason they don't get it crammed at them more is they are pretty broke on average.

Edit: They don't even get that "go to college to get ahead" is in fact marketing they bought into. No everything they do they do because they WANT to not because they are being easily manipulated by marketing.

what was this thread about again?

It's about a bunch of people in a marketing class pretending to understand online advertising.

Also I bet my ass on the fact most of them clicked on dozens of google ads without even knowing.
