Question for the Veterans... From a Peasant.

Here's my 2 cents for you. Don't be a copycat-- be creative with your ideas, and like g1c9 said, learn from failures( others as well as yours).

Success is what you can make from what you have. Go at it and give it your best shot.

Nothing came easy. My journey is still at the start. There is a lot more to do and to be done.

I'm older than a lot of guys here. I worked offline. I did regular shit jobs. I took some time to get into philosophy and economics. All of those experiences inform what I do and try to do.

If there are two skills that will take you far, it's

1. Listening carefully
2. Fierce determination

If you can do those two things which most "normals" cannot, you have a good chance of succeeding.

Im coming in late to this to add anything useful really, but Ill try to add something people have not already ( and I agree with everyone else, just give what I write next a thought )

Based on what CCarter gave, here is my spin:

Failure = Past Experience - without this you wont succeed. Get failure yourself or find someone willing to teach you their failures. 25 of their failures are only equal to 1 of yours. You need about 100 failures min for yourself.

Resources = Money (and/or) Time BUT ALSO future knowledge. Someone once said 10k hours in a subject doing something pushing your limits ( not just doing it ) makes you an expert. 10k hours is also equal to about 5-6 books on a subject. The hours are better, but if you really need to know something, find the top 5-6 books on a subject at Amazon and get to reading. Never stop reading/learning after this.

Luck = Timing (and/or) Generating Your Own Luck (Sheer Determination). Creating your luck and timing tie into failure. You will not know the right timing, ever. You think you do, but you dont. You must always be doing every day to find your timing. This means you will fail a shit ton. Making your own luck also means you must be doing every day, which means you will be failing.

Therefore

Failure + Resource + Luck = Success

And Success?

Success = Doing what you love - I have to twist this, but I think we mean the same thing in the end. To me Success = options. Options make me happy and let me do what I want, when I want. You cant do that, without options. Options are what makes the world go round. Think of everyone you know that is unhappy for any reason and I bet you will find out that 8 of 10 of them believe they have no options ( or maybe they really dont ). Money buys a fuck ton of options bro, trust me on that.

Shit... thought this thread was about "VETERANS"
