Qu'ran-burning pastor jailed

The funny thing is, people are blaming him for the UN worker's being killed and not Islamic nuts.

The guy is a nut, no doubt, but how on earth is murder ever an appropriate response to burning a book?

It is not, but the guy is taking (some) moral responsibility for these deaths. After what happened when Mohamed (please correct the spelling) pictures were published in Swedish newspaper everyone knew how this will end up. Followers of the Religion of Love & Peace are taking Koran very seriously. In UK they requested Koran to be stored above any other books in public libraries.

BTW I expect this thread to be as popular as HB's latest one.

Regardless of how anyone feels about what he was saying this is exactly the kind of speech we have to protect. It's exactly what the first amendment was made for. I'm actually surprised the ACLU picked it up, but good for them. I hope they rake that judges ass over the coals.

The guy has no moral responsibility here for that, it's 100% on people who think killing is a valid response to a book burning. Violence is not an answer to free speech that offends you. Ever.

If someone was to burn a bible, people would be killed. After 9/11 a few extreme Christians killed people from the Middle East.

All of this shit is shit, too much fucking hate.

There wouldn't be riots with 20 aid workers being killed over a bible being burned. There are extremists on all sides, yes I know, Timothy McVeigh etc, but the burning of a bible wouldn't lead to mass riots.

Yeah I agree, but still shit does happen.
Why the fuck do people care so much about other's beliefs lol, it doesn't have anything to do with them.

who knows. I'm not defending what he's saying either, but it's his right to say it.

Sure he has significant moral responsibility. He knew the reaction to the burning of the book would be violence leading to death. In fact, I think his plan was to incite it to further demonize the muslim religion.

Saying he has no moral responsibility is the same as saying I'd have no moral responsibility if I left my children alone in a bedroom with a known pedophile.

Prove those two statements with a link. Especially the first one.

People filled with hate and rage = extreme violence. In certain geographies it is a given that a large percentage of the population hates westerners. It just takes something to fire up the rage and they will act.
