Do you do email marketing? Mirror some of the basic information at the .com and set up a sign up for more information. Double opt-in, if you're into that sort of thing.

Or be a domainer and offer to sell the .org to the .com owners. Might be able to parlay it into a marketing consultation about how something this dumb should never ever happen in the real world.
 
I agree, and they do have SEO on their side however the ad specifically puts additional emphasis on "dot O R G" almost like they wanted to make sure nobody accidentally went to .com - weird.
Could be they registered the site after the ads were already registered, and the guy doing the domain purchase was like "dot org? what the fuck is that? I'll just get the dot com because everyone knows what that is."

Could be that "events" are usually advertised by organizations such as chambers of commerce, charitable organizations or organizations created to support the event. Perhaps the stations and the ad writers are quite used to saying "for more info, please log on to whatever.org"
