Religion does not bring a certain sense of morality.. it brings a threat of going to hell if you don't follow god's laws. Atheist's fear being physically hurt or permanently killed if they don't follow man's laws. Really, I think they both impose the same amount of morality-by-fear.

But are atheist afraid to kill another human being.
Example Eugenics.

I have personally witnessed 4 different people explain to you in the past that those evil dictators did what they did for their own reasons: Atheism has NOTHING to do with it because all Atheism is is not believing in a god.

Now if they DID believe in an Evil god, that would be a telling sign, but they did NOT believe in anything... Hence there is NO COMMON BELIEF to unite them.

As for your point about Atheists lacking morality; that is insulting. You have just called every atheist on this board Immoral again.

The fact is that Good people will do good things; religious or not. Same with bad people. Religion doesn't somehow "Fix" them, in fact it always makes them poorer because the church always asks for money. -And poverty is a very well proven cause of Crime.

There is certainly more morality by fear among the religious. They fear an eternity of pain and suffering if they don't do right by the guy upstairs... Considerably more fear than we have of our local law enforcement agency.

However this should not be thought of as a point towards Rusky's defense!

Just the opposite in fact because FEAR makes people do illogical, IMMORAL things.

Those that live without fear are the enlightened ones; they have no inward anger or reason to do bad.

Of course Rusky & most Theists can't see this; they think that if you have no fear then you have no reason to not rape, murder, and pillage mercilessly, as they have heard happen in the past with evil bastards like Stalin.

But living without fear is not the same as living without morality. There is a huge difference; Fear makes you do bad things, morality makes you do good things.

The religious somehow think that fear of god and morality are tied together but there is nothing further from the truth. Pick any religious war as evidence.

Oh please. To blame something like that on Atheism is so sad. Why don't you try pinning the Holocoust on us next? And even if that could be pinned on atheism to the very core; compare it to all the hundreds (likely thousands) of Wars religion is responsible for.

If you look at major atheist governments in this century. Like Russia and China; killing close to 100 million people; its quite the fuck up on the atheists behalf. Should I let those stains effect the way I look at all atheists.

Eugenics is just enforced bigotry.. and that's been around since long before atheism. People will always come up with reasons why they're better than the next guy. Before eugenics the Nobles/Elites simply bred with other Nobles/Elites and they didn't need to worry about "lesser-breeds" because they had such an upper hand on them anyway.

True morality really comes from Empathy.. and Empathy is something that the religious and non-religious can both acquire.

Morality-by-fear is something that's a lot different and it can be acquired in many ways. To me the threat of being permanently killed is much more scary than the threat of eternal suffering in a hell. I'd rather burn forever than be erased from existence. A tortured existence is better than no existence.
