Remains of alien life found, biggest news ever?

Honestly this could signal a serious change in a lot of ideas for us, including how Humans got here. Earth was possibly 'seeded' with life from another planet, comet, etc.

yea but fundamentalists will just redraw the boxes again. Just like they do with micro / macro evolution, it will be about dumb vs intelligent life. Their book can't be wrong, so some new excuses will be developed.

i just really wonder if they industrialized like we did. do they have cars? or did they take the nature route .. like Avatar

Yes, they are a highly advanced civilization, but it's more like the people in the movie Wallee. It's kind of sad really, because at one time they weren't all chair bound.

Oh yes, it must be true because:

"Given the controversial nature of his discovery, we have invited 100 experts and have issued a general invitation to over 5,000 scientists from the scientific community to review the paper and to offer their critical analysis," Schild wrote in an editor's note along with the article. "No other paper in the history of science has undergone such a thorough vetting, and never before in the history of science has the scientific community been given the opportunity to critically analyze an important research paper before it is published, he wrote."

So it absolutely must be true because 5K scientists were invited to call BS and didn't. Hey, I'm buying it.

In other news, I need to tell you guys that I am the funkiest, sexiest, craziest love machine that the Creator has ever gifted to all women here on earth. This is indisputably true because I invited 5000 scientists to comment on this assertion before publishing. And none of them contradicted my findings.

$20 bucks (CDN or US) says this is bullshit (the life-on-meteorite thingie, not me being a love machine) . Now who is going to bet against me, and who is going to hold the money (via paypal)?

just out of curiosity, why are you so sure its BS? Because you want it to be BS or because something in the paper looks like BS to you?

wat. finding it is a big deal, and big news. just because statistically we've got an idea we're not the only living things, finding proof is huge.

seriously- if the guy that found this didn't believe in alien life, he wouldn't have spent 10 years searching for it in remote parts of the world.

Little things don't add up with this report:

1. Only special kinds of meteorites harbour these types of fossils.
2. There are only 9 meteorites in the world that match this particular kind (that harbour fossils).
3. This guy was apparently allowed to go around and break them open with a hammer and examine them.
4. I see a bunch load of pictures showing electron scans but no actual pictures of the meteorites.
5. I see no quotes from whichever government owned those meteorites and allowed him to break them open in the first place.

Having said that, I'm going to go over and look at that article again, since I'm now getting a wee emotionally invested into whether it's bogus or not.

uMad Robertson?

Arf, arf, nice try.
Actually I'm procrastinating. I'm supposed to be configuring an exit pop for a promo we're running but I hate dicking around with Javascript.

Ergo, I'm researching the possibility of life from outer space. Now the guy who is proposing looks legit but no idea how he managed to rule out contamination i.e. the fossils on the rocks came from planet earth.

And the fact there are no pics of the actual rocks still bugs me.

WTF, it's getting obvious that i'm stalling. Back to work.

They haven't ruled out contamination yet.

I for one welcome our new alien overlords.

I thought we already had proof locked up in Area 51? Its crazy to think there isn't life anywhere but earth. What makes us so special? We have a sun? If we are as advanced as we like to believe we are why wouldn't there be something else either more or less advanced then we are? Just because you cant see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I cant see Africa but im told its there.

It doesnt even matter if this guys rock is legit or not by the end of this story he is going to get absolutely shredded pupblicly and he will be disproved and will be made out to be a quack. Its to bad because its probably legit but there are to many small minded people on this planet with alternate agendas.

1) makes sense, you're not going to find things everywhere (maybe they originated from different areas)
2) because of q1 this makes sense
3) not all 'space rock' is picked up by super special government organizations and stowed away... you can find your own.
4) they're nerds, why see a rock when you can see an alien fossil? I'm sure he has them
5) see q 3

It's pretty reasonable for there to be alien life, the chances of the're tech being advanced enough to travel galaxies is just as slim as ours. So ill take bacteria as a win.

I wish you were wrong about this, but unfortunately I think you're completely right.

He's not just right; he's understating it. Some of those jackasses will eventually re-write the bible to put "proof" in it that god panspermia'd the earth on the 6th day...

I Hope the way they phrase it is "spermed life unto the earth" ...Too much to ask for but it would make the kiddies in the pews laugh.
