Remains of alien life found, biggest news ever?

Oh yes, it must be true because:

"Given the controversial nature of his discovery, we have invited 100 experts and have issued a general invitation to over 5,000 scientists from the scientific community to review the paper and to offer their critical analysis," Schild wrote in an editor's note along with the article. "No other paper in the history of science has undergone such a thorough vetting, and never before in the history of science has the scientific community been given the opportunity to critically analyze an important research paper before it is published, he wrote."

So it absolutely must be true because 5K scientists were invited to call BS and didn't. Hey, I'm buying it.

In other news, I need to tell you guys that I am the funkiest, sexiest, craziest love machine that the Creator has ever gifted to all women here on earth. This is indisputably true because I invited 5000 scientists to comment on this assertion before publishing. And none of them contradicted my findings.

$20 bucks (CDN or US) says this is bullshit (the life-on-meteorite thingie, not me being a love machine) . Now who is going to bet against me, and who is going to hold the money (via paypal)?
Wishful thinking. Sounds like you don't want this to be true. Ever heard of the meteorites in Antarctica? This (panspermia) is in fact the most likely explanation of life.

If it winds up to be on the level, it would be the biggest news ever. I'm interested but I'm gonna have to hear a lot more about this being accepted by the scientific community at large before I really start to care. At this point I was still more excited about gliese 581 g.

^Gliese is nothing to astronomers... The Kepler findings unveiled last month make that one small exo look like absolutely nothing.

We now are sure that there are over 50 Billion systems with Million Exo planets in the Milky way alone, and at least 500 MILLION of these planets are within their habitable zones!

They've basically flipped the Drake equation upside down... It's now the NORM for a system to have habitable planets, and RARE for systems to have gas giants and no rocky or water worlds.

That's pretty damn awesome, I love space shit since I like 8. Wish we could get some images of these planets. A few months back I did see the first actual picture of an exo planet but it was just a dot. I find planets super interesting, I used to love learning about the big moons in our solar system because it was like just more planets to me.

James Webb space telescope can't come soon enough..

It looks like the worms from tremors with Kevin Bacon.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Other scientists' views on this are supposed to be published on the journal site starting tomorrow.

This isn't news, anyone who thinks Earth is the only planet that has life or even intelligent life is a total fucking moron. Space goes on forever...FORVER. You know how many gazillions of other planets are other there? And we are the only ones? LuL, get real.

this is pretty much what I think too.

sadly, until a fing alien lands his wheels on the White House lawn nobody will care.

Ha ha, that Myers dude PWND this story so hard... And he didn't even have to mention how the scientists making this claim has been trying to get this story broken for many years now with no success.

I love the Faux news bashing comments underneath his post, too. Classic!

Not that I don't believe in alien life... but this was debunked pretty thoroughly I believe by this blog post.

Seems the believers running their mouths earlier in this thread have since stopped. They are trying to out Christians as nuts for not believing, but this rebuttal pretty much outs them as nuts for believing.

What if we're all in a computer simulation, that contains no "aliens"?

Seriously though, just because you're convinced that other life exists out there, without any evidence.... this is still pretty huge news. To say "it's not news" is quite a stretch.

Quick question for everyone!! if there was another planet out there, very similar to earth, with human beings and on the planet for the same amount of time as us ... do you think their lifestyle would be parallel to ours? or do you think they may have gone on a completely different path?

If the universe is truly infinite (which is debated), that would imply that every possible scenario would have to exist somewhere somehow, because it's infinite. At some point, yes, there would be a world exactly like ours. There would be an infinite number of them. In one such parallel world, everything is exactly the same as it is here, except we all have second dicks coming out of our foreheads (women of course would only have the forehead dick), and the cartoon character we know as Bart Simpson is known as Winston Simpson.

You see?

They may have been into a different path. But Im not saying that us, humans are the most intelligent being in this universe. I mean hey if those UFOs were real, then it beats human technology. We're not alone really.
