In the past, I've only been making moolah from ads and selling sites. Now I want to try affiliate sales and marketing. Since I'm trying to learn, I'll go over what I've done so far so I can get critiqued by people who are successfully earning from affiliate marketing.

Here is what I've done so far:
1. Got a domain
2. Choose an affiliate offer
3. Created a site around the offer. My New Satellite TV 2.0
4. Thought of some keywords for google adwords and then got google to optimize my campaign and ended up with some more keywords.
5. I put negative keywords (-free -review -hack -hacking etc) to get non paying searchers out.
6. I started the campaign. Average of 0.15 per click for many broad, and/or exact phrases trying to target people in buying mode.
7. Waiting for conversions... don't see anything :(

What did I miss? :bigear:

your site is really nicely done, looks great.

i'm no expert (AT ALL!!) but my 2 cents would be, you need to put the GET IT NOW button much more prominent, it took me WAY too long to notice it. i should be seeing it right away.

i would put it over to the left under "Say YES to My Satellite TV 2.0." centered, see how that works for you

Thanks :D I just made it today.

Good point about the button location :D I've moved it where you suggested. I'll probably make a new wider button for that area that fits better. Thanks :D

Seems too expensive. I can't see anyone wanting to buy this.

Based on what? The cost of satellite TV, pay per view or dvds?

Garg try to have minimal links on your landing page. You don't want your traffic wandering off and not seeing your sales pitch. Also make your get it now button a different color that is impossible to not notice. I promise it will increase conversions.

Also put more calls to action in your text and even in your header image. And increase the size of your fine print or get rid of it, cuss as it is it looks shady.

Cheers and good luck.

The offer isn't free as the landing page would have you believe, which is misleading. Also, the technology is pretty old. Not like no one already knows about this. The problem with web TV is that the quality is poor.

Are online sat tv offers allowed on google now? I used to make some decent sales off it then they passed a rule to not allow ads to run. They would disable them after a few days of running

i feel the right side navigation should be at the bottom of the page.
let the visitor look at the offer undistracted. if he reaches the bottom of the offer and still have not clicked the offer...give him some links to still review features, testimonials of the offer.

what exactly is the problem? you get a lot of clicks but no conversions, or you get no clicks?

if it is the first issue, most things have been said already. if it is the latter, then it is most likely a quality score issue. add at least the standard links to "about, terms, contact, privacy, sitemap". you know the deal.

and then do some rewording on your stuff, because you are busted on copyscape.com :)

Good point. The offer just may not be excellent or good converting.

Grab a better .com domain name.
Bid higher.
Start with just exact match.

Thanks. Finding coms these days has gotten tough :(

It is a good start -- you may want to add a video feed with trailers from movies. May make the site better and consumers more trusting to purchase.

Thanks! I'll try that. It would be nice if the companies would let affiliate marketers a trial version for no charge so we could market it better with more screenshots etc.

You know.. I've noticed that too. I got a lot of inactive keywords. Did you use a tool to find your keywords?

Thanks. Good idea. I'll make an alt version of the page according to your suggestion.

hmm. I think you've hit the nail on the hammer. I'm actually not getting many clicks now. The prices have gone higher too. I'll add the about, terms, contact, privacy and sitemaps. I didn't know those helped. Thanks! I'll also reword it. I used the same content as the landing page. Damn google and their freakishly intelligent algorithms.

Well your not making money because your idea is completely unoriginal. wow you made a satellite tv site. I dont think there are any other marketers that have done that before. Sigh i get tired of saying it, but really man really? You have to think outside the box, ive marketed a satellite dish aff before, i spose many google marketers have. Which is the point. Come up with something original and crazy that nobody else is doing, otherwise keep promoting sattelite tv and amazon and see where it gets you

There is value though to a noob running with something tried and true, just to get the lay of the land, learn the tools & techniques. At least that's how I'm looking at it as someone new to the game. Also, you have to consider that 90% of what the networks offer is the same tired zip/email submits, dating, ringtones, payday advance, credit repair BS. Unless you've already built a good niche network of sites and can drive significant traffic, I'm guessing it's pretty tough to get custom-tailored campaigns or go direct to the merchant. I know that creativity doesn't lie purely in the offer, but there are only so many ways to market zip submits for a free TV.

The site looks alright. Im just wondering how many channels out of the 2,500 work properly.
Iv got tv on my computer and its not that great im affraid.

To tell you the truth, I'm sure almost none would be working that great. And I have no doubt that you would be able to stream all the channels it provides for free.

Plus you can use things like Joost, babelgum, hulu, and TVU Networks to watch almost anything. Plus quality would be very low compared to the competitors.

I have to agree with the guys above that the offer is competing with free quality software and that is the reason it's not converting.

I don't have an ebook to recommend. I read a few and they all basically tell you exactly what I posted in the first post of this thread.

This site provides lots of case studies (like this thread) and have posted a lot of tutorials.

Search for high ranking affiliate blogs and read through this forum and you'll get everything you need about affiliate marketing.

While I am no expert (that's why I made this thread), I believe that it's all about tweaking and creativity. Basically, you choose a good affiliate offer, and try to recommend it to people. If you make a website then make it so that it makes people want to buy. Send traffic to it. If it converts then start working on another offer. If it doesn't convert figure out why it's not working and then keep on tweaking and ask people on this forum for suggestions.

You just need experience and no ebook can give you that.

Ask yourself this:

How likely would you purchase this product?

Honestly, I don't know anyone that has ever used this software.

Doesn't really seem like a 'hungry' crowd to me.
