Ron Paul: He's In!

All Ron Paul really needs is some national exposure. Sure, most people who follow politics know about him but the average schmuck doesn't. Maybe if he gets the VP nod or some high profile interviews people might start taking him seriously; I'm sure he could mesmerize most of the American population with his no-nonsense speaking style. But otherwise he's just a fringe candidate and "meh" as far as I'm concerned. Go Mitt Romney, I guess.

He just got a late start last election. No one knew who he was. A few noticed him after he got screwed in the south carolina debate (i was one of those people who had no idea who he was but the moment i saw that i jumped out of my seat yelling at the tv and became an instant supporter after that). He blew up very fast but just didn't have enough time to gain those supporters and get them properly organized. They worked hard but couldn't quite pull it off in time. He made a smart move declaring his candidacy early. Now all of his supporters can start back up on his campaigning. Plus since 2008 he's been keeping himself in the news and constantly campaigning. Fox news even has him on a lot now to help their trash talk about obama mission. He's a lot more media friendly and better at conveying his points (facts be faced he was rusty last election).

Now he has tons of very loyal do or die followers on the war path. He's going to gain a ton of campaign financing right off the bat and get off to a great start. The only thing thats going to really hold him back is the stigma that he lost last time therefore he can't win this time. That'll be the #1 attack against him and it'll be used the entire caucus. Yet somehow i'm sure it won't be used against mitt romney and sarah pailin. I guarantee though he hasn't lost any supporters and has probably gained all the kucunich and gravel supporters as well (uncompromising idiots basically threw away good votes that could have gone to ron paul over a few minor issues). So he can only go up .

hes had exposure from Fox/CNN, and they all shoot him down and make it impossible for him to be elected.

My prediction: He won't get past the primaries. His own party will turn against him and pick jokes like sarah palin or donald trump.

Him as vp would be good strategy for republicans but they probably don't want to risk the age issue. Besides, I can't see him accepting a vp position behind the likes of Palin.

As I posted in the Gary Johnson thread, the problem with these candidates is that the majority of voters (people who actually go out and vote, not just registered voters) swing to the extreme right or extreme left. If Paul or Johnson can get middle of the road Americans to get out and vote, they might have a chance. I just don't think it's possible. The best they can do is raise some awareness for their policies and/or parties, IMO.

Ron Paul FTW. Win or Lose his candidacy will make many more people aware how screwed up things are. I owe my "awakening" to a really shitty cardboard "Google Ron Paul" sign.

Needless to say, I'm behind him 100%
