SF Police shoot man in wheelchair

What part of "he wasn't confined to the wheelchair" don't you get? Witnesses said he was able to get up and walk around. As I said before, I think this was shitty policing at best, but at the same time I have no problem understanding why they shot the guy.

Even if he wasn't confined to the wheelchair, it's still an unarmed man sitting in a wheelchair. Beanbag or taze imo.

Jesus, did you read the article? They did beanbag him (and pepper sprayed him which resulted in one cop getting stabbed), that's when he threw the knife at them. San Fran cops don't have tasers so they went for the next option. I know you live in a Utopian society where most cops don't carry guns and violent crime is unheard of  so this is hard for you to understand, but when you stab a police office and then throw a knife at a bunch of cops you can expect to get shot in most other countries.

No, I didn't read the article. It is hard for me to understand, of course, this kind of circumstance isn't normal in my country and the situation probably would have played out much differently.

I just don't understand why when the knife is out of his hands they couldn't have just arrested him. :\

Lol you think that is ok?

Once the knife has not injured the officer they could have simply arrested him, I don't see why the shooting is a necessary part of equation. Punishment?

Yeah, because cops have plenty of time to sit and speculate over whether the guy in the wheelchair has more knives. Or maybe a gun.

Time is of the essence.

Don't think, just shoot. I know people are stupid (obviously) but do you not trust them to make decisions that they are trained to make on the spot? And of course they only even have this choice to shoot or not to shoot because you presented it with them, in my country (which I'm not saying is better or worse) this person would have been simply taken down and arrested with as minimal harm caused.
