So is Bitcoin how to flee fiat money?

I have a bunch of bitcoins. They are nearly worthless. I can barely buy anything with them, and the things I can buy are difficult to buy.

This is because there aren't enough free webcarts and plugins available to merchants. The bitcoin community should have made this top priority.

Ordinary people would have an extremely difficult time getting them, and unless this is fixed (it won't be), then it will never be widely accepted.

It's fixed. If you're in the US all you have to do is open an mtgox account, open a dwolla account, have a checking account and you can convert bitcoins to dollars and vice versa for an almost nonexistent transaction fee. Other countries might have similar systems. Want to dump all your bitcoins? This is how.

Since it's also difficult to trace, and transactions are final, a consumer that has been scammed has no recourse. You can't charge back fraud transactions like you could with paypal or a credit card. Just another reason why it will never be widely accepted.

It's not difficult to trace, it's easy. In fact, all bitcoin transactions are public information. Know a noob's wallet id? You can find out where and when he purchased his gay porn and dutch weed from!

But the irrevokability of transactions is one of the plus points. You shouldn't pay some rifraff you hardly know with btc but a trusted associate is a different matter, you'd be saving him 3% in transaction fees.

Yes, it's a fun novelty, but it will never be a widely accepted form of payment without serious improvements.

Agree. But the bitcoin failtrain does have backing from people like Max Kaiser and MSNBC who give it free publicity. This is probably the ONLY reason most people even know about bitcoins. There's a chance that the big mass of idealistic 'tards will step up and get their act together to improve the reputation and utility of bitcoins. If you know how to use it and when to use it then everything becomes a useful tool, e.g. see this post here: http://www.wickedfire.com/enlighten...st-ultimate-bitcoin-thread-2.html#post1833824

i'd like to say "its going to happen", because it needs to and it can, but can you really see elected governments allowing themselves to get cut off at the knees? do you really see the same dumbfucks that elected bush & obama NOT BEING SWAYED by their arguments against it? sheep are the opposition, and 8 of every 10 people you see around you are sheep. ain't it fun living in dumbfuckington, being subject to laws dictated by people who love watching the kardashians?

lol wow... Talk about fail. These guys want to get away from the evil government but now they want help from the government to regulate their monopoly money.

Bitcoins are illegal in the US because it competes with the usd? Also the Bitcoin market is only 35 million usd? So 1% of the market just disappeared or was stolen and still nobody knows wtf happened to them?
