Some stories about work at startups

I'm going to tell you this just once, because I'm kind, and then you're on your own. My post was a joke that your link did not lead to meatspin not because I thought you were a twat (though I do now) but because lots of links used to redirect to a video of two men writhing together, one having his cock firmly rammed up the other's arse. It was nothing personal, like most of the posts on here. If you're too much of a girl to cope with this forum fuck off back to warrior forum.

ps no-one gives a fuck about your hosting services, or about you.

Thanks for your kind explanations. I also did not think you were a twat, sorry that I did not meet your expectations. As for link - if you put your cursor over it, you can see it leads to Gizmodo, not some URL shortener, and Gizmodo is not the site to post videos with cocks shoved up the arse.

I'd love to say I do not give a single flying fuck, but your act of random kindness and detailed explanations made me feel warm. Sorry if my posts offended you in any way, because I do not take them - or posts of many other people around here - seriously. Nothing personal. Discussion is great, naming is not.

p.s. I said many times - I do not care that you do not care. Once you cope with the fact that I do not want to sell you hosting, life will be easier for you.

p.p.s. And I can be wherever the fuck I want to be as long as I do not violate community rules, which I do not. Therefore - your advice shall not be followed, my good sir. WarriorForum is a shitdump I do not want to visit ever in my life, neither would I recommend doing it to my worst enemy.

Not going to do a back and forth on this. You lacing your reply with sentences like this:

I tried to tell you about HostZealot.com service, because I thought you might need enterprise grade Supermicro hardware, unmetered bandwidth and reliable service, hence the signature.

Is more than comical for multiple reasons for what you're defending.

I would say this only proves my original idea that you're just here to spam your web host that I don't think anyone gives a shit about. I personally think your marketing strategy for your hosting company is poor. No one cares about self promotion here (we're marketers), but it would seem you're not understanding this current demographic and not adapting well.

OK... now that's done does anyone have any experience with startups of any kind? Bonus points if it's a non-USA one since it'd be a different perspective.

I don't understand why he keeps posting.

Probably because I like making idiots mad. Probably because letting people who think they know marketing show themselves as morons makes me smile.

You are marketers? really? you think my marketing strategy is bad? REALLY?

You judge me from your own perspective, from perspective of guys who try to sell ice to eskimos because you don't give a fuck while it earns a buck.

I understood this community long ago and I DO NOT WANT TO SELL ANYTHING TO ANYONE HERE ANYMORE, BECAUSE I SEE YOU THAT DO NOT NEED THIS.

You use hosting services you like, or don't use any at all - fine, no problems. WHY DO YOU TAKE EVERYTHING I POST AS AN ATTEMPT TO SELL MY SERVICES, DESPITE THE FACT I SAID MANY TIMES I DO NOT WANT TO??? This is the part I don't get.

We have customers who pay us around $7,000/mo, while earning $XX,XXX with software hosted at our Ashburn and Toronto POP. Most of our new customers come through recomendations of our existing customers. Some come through forums/ promotional campaigns. I do not expect a single customer from here and I do not give a single fart about it. Rest safely, marketing gurus.

Just in case you did not get it quite right. I post here for own entertainment, not because we crave for your orders. We do fine as it is.

Why do I keep posting? Because I like discussions. When they turn into shitmills - and they do turn in 99% of cases (don't say its my fault, there are a lot of threads here where shit flies around and members call each other idiots, morons, bastards, fucktards and all other names you can imagine) - when discussions turn into shitmills they die. This thread turned into shitmill pretty quick, so it's time for it to die, I think.

Unless somebody wants to share their precious opinion on my persona or my company services, while having literally zero knowledge on both points.

If having a sig means "spamming a forum" to you and I should remove mine - why don't you all remove your sigs then?

CCarter, you are one of the most authoritative members here. Would you please be so kind to explain how can a company promote their service (not hosting in particular, any kind of service) to people who are too conservative to try something new? Or such kind of answer would cost a ton of monies?

Please stop!! Just stop!

You were outed for spamming now just shut-up and walk away.

Or carry-on making everyone laugh and wince at the same time.

Hostzellot since we're talking about you: I currently host all my sites on hostgator. I use it becuase it's relatively easy to use as I'm not that advanced. I like how you can install WP with a click of a button etc.

As such, I don't really understand what hosting services like you do. What advantages would I have from switching from hostgator?

Genuine question, I'm starting to think I should move to a proper host but don't know why.

Dark side is strong in you, young padavan.

Yes. If this is your marketing strategy, it's absolutely horrible.

Do you see Rackspace coming around to WF, and picking internet fights with people?

Kiopa, I am very sorry to see you cannot understand what you are told.
Marketing strategy is the way to promote a product or service to ceratin audience, so that this audience will buy it. As I said several times - I do not think anyone here will by our hosting - and despite these MULTIPLE statements you still call my pure trolling a marketing strategy.

As for Rackspace not coming here - I do not see them coming anywhere at all and I do not know how they gain clients, because I rarely even find any mentions of them.

On the other hand, Hostgator is everywhere, and while half of people say that "since HG was bought by EIG their support became shit", the other half says "I've always been with Hostgator and I am quite happy with them". And none of them actually represent Hostgator, they are just users discussing it. However, HG is always talked about, so when people need hosting - they think of Hostgator.

As I said above - everybody makes their own choices. You chose your providers, you are happy with them - great. Fullstop.

I will let this thread die and stop posting here, just to stop this shitmill.

So you post on Minecraft forums and other web marketing forums because you like discussions from those kinds of people. It never crossed your mind that Minecraft and web marketing people need web hosting? Ever? I see you make clear sales threads on the other forums, making one here would result in a ban + our BST prices are way higher than the other forums you posted, so I'm guessing you opted out.

Shouldn't you be aware of what your competitor's (Rackspace) marketing tactics are? I can tell you it's not making threads and saying things like 'I don't give a fuck' and 'you're all idiots'.

Again, no one said to remove your sig or anything, not sure why you keep bringing that up (you actually made that recommendation initially). I would think the average marketer can at least spot someone else's marketing strategy.

Genuine question, I'm starting to think I should move to a proper host but don't know why.

With a VPS or dedicated server you're looking at cheaper pricing for bulk hosting and more control for things like IP, creating cPanel accounts, reselling it to clients, etc. The speed alone is why I upgraded myself, places like Hostgator are total crap for speed.

I would recommend Knownhost for your VPS because it's a managed service, meaning I can message support and ask them to do whatever (ex. upgrade this server from Apache to Nginx) and they'll do it free of charge. That way you don't have to be so server-savvy, compared to some other VPS's that are a lot cheaper but they expect you to do everything.

Boiler room - telemarketing call - YouTube

I will reply this one last time, just because I respect you for insightful posts and for dedication of browsing across the web for other forums I frequent.

1) Minecraftforum is the same as WF - just a forum to relax and discuss all topics, from the most liked PS2 games and to the theories of how the Earth will end. Community there is not so egocentric and profit driven and we discuss many things in polite and calm manner. Did you see me insulting anyone there even once?

as for hosting needs there - the guys on Minecraftforum need Minecraft hosting - low-cost, limited packages, cheap equipment. We specialize at webmaster hosting - enterprise grade equipment, unmetered traffic, 1 Gbps bandwidth, meaning that our packages cost a lot more than Minecraft hosters are used to.

2) $60 a thread is not a price to consider, but initial analysis of this forum showed that this community is not interested in hosting (no discussions of hosts , no hosting promos, no hosting news + some private conversations just confirmed that everyone around here has a provider that suits their needs best)

Since then, posting a BST thread here was not considered an option

3) Once again - this Gizmodo article caused a discussion on another forum, where people who adore these startup unicorns tried to figure if situations, described in the article, could take place in real life. Discussion was long and interesting and I wanted to share this article with the same goal here - to start a discussion.

I did not ever say that "everybody here are idiots", as this is not true. When I am called spammer and my company services are mocked WITHOUT ANY REAL GROUND, OUT OF PURE HYPOCRICY, or due to impression caused by my previous posts, WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE QUALITY OF SERVICE WE PROVIDE - I respond. People around here are quick to blame and to throw shit at each other - I hope you will not argue with that?

This was a bright experience, I will really stop responding in this thread now.

Well I do SEO so browsing Google ain't no thang.

Just so everyone knows, he posted sales threads on all those forums too, in fact about half his threads were promoting his hosting company. He says it's not his market but that didn't stop him from making those threads. Words vs. action here.

In the Minecraft example, do you even play Minecraft? Is that another community you just wanted to be apart of the 'discussion'? None of your posts were about that, same with none of your posts here are about web marketing/affiliates.

There's no shame in marketing at all, we're all marketers here, you can just admit it.

Edit: and quit clicking 'like' for anyone making fun of you, just be honest here and click 'dislike'. Obviously you don't like this.
