This. I would never build an ecommerce site with Wordpress.

WP is no bueno for e-com.

I'm a huge fan of Magento for E-com. Used to dread it, but is the best for it. You have to find a good developer (hard to do, most outsourcers are terrible even if they are "experts") and have at least 500ish SKU's imho to begin to really make it work.

Alternatives: Self hosted like BigCommerce (not a fan from the SEO side), Joomla. I'd go with Joomla first as it is pretty solid for ease of use optimizing for SEO.

Agreed, I just started an ecom site this year and Magento is excellent.

If you plan cross channel selling via Amazon, ebay and your site you should check out Linnworks - a cheaper version [and better IMO] than Channel Advisor.
 
UPDATE: As of Jan. 30, 2012 we will no longer be selling snapback hats. Returns will be accepted up to April 30, 2012
What happened? Maybe we can get an autopsy of what went wrong.
