The Big Get Bigger, The Small have no chance?

You've made yourself look like a complete ass, congrats!

Back on topic:

An example of the big getting bigger would be Google. They've not only got the public exposure, but they've got buying power. Good startups (youtube among other companies) have been bought out by Google, purely due to Googles size and heavy bank account.

I'm not saying the smaller forces go without a fair dismissal or any sort of good wadge of cash, but they're just feeding the larger entities out there. I mean, is the same happening with affiliate marketers or PPC earners or what?

I should amend my previous post when I said we I ment me! I act like a fucktard for my amusement
True dat, I love being able to fucking swear, one of the many reasons I come here.

Just to clarify, its not because the question is bad but because you two bickered back in forward over nothing, but hey live and let live i guess...

on second thought:
I dont know what the fuck im talking about.

moo - I read some of your blog that you mentioned in an old post here. In all seriousness, very interesting insight!

moo - I was on topic, but as to your example about google, I don't think it is even close to the same in aff etc. Alot of the companies that "feed" the big companies have no real financial plan, that is a world that is very tough because of open source everyone expects everything for free, unlike the cell industry were everything costs something. Aff is based on money from the very start of any webmaster business!

I see your point, and I do agree but wouldn't you comprimise and say that an aff sells his or her website / business to a larger power (being someone with a budget to accommodate) or individual.

The big get bigger because they have knowledge, experience, and some work ethic... money doesn't hurt either. When you have those things you'll make money too.

It does fit the 'It takes money to make money' bill, which is true. This leads me on to thinking:

Is it really necessary to have a unique idea in todays economy to make it big?

moo - I don't understand why that would happen, most of aff is about the person behind the sites, most successful aff marketers own hundreds and thousands of sites, they are not expensive and anyone can start from 1. That being said, Jon is working on something he plans on selling to google or yahoo that is niche based. not sure if this is adsense ypn or aff but his business model is to build it to earn huge and then sell. Jason Calicanis (sp) talked about having the AOL resources to launch a new blog at weblogs inc. before they sold a new blog took 6 months or more to get to 1 million page views a month, now they are doing 1 million in a month but that is a different business model than what most people in aff use.

I see, so you're saying that each affiliate marketer has a different business model.

Wouldn't the ideal business model be 'Develop a site with a sale in mind'?

The only problem I see with this is that the chances of someone big buying your site is small.

no! why would I want to sell a aff site that is making me money through organic and ppc? my growth comes from building more sites, if you sell the site to someone and they start doing the same thing you are, well that ends up bad for all involved! your ideas are your currency in this business, now internet real estate is something else, that is another business model but not really aff! that would mean having a strong domain name and good design and content for the site, being able to show some traffic and income helps the price. Some might like that but I don't see were the real money is at in that business unless you had a domain like sex.com

in a side not azoogle 2.0 is pissing me off! I might go into 3 days of psyco mode on WF again!

But surely this is where the hard work ethic comes into play, to get your site to the standard and value where someone big will want to purchase your site.

On the flipside, what's stopping them pouring their expertise and resources into a similar startup..time maybe?
