Found this to be pretty interesting: Ketogenic Diet & Brain Cancer | LIVESTRONG.COM
I don't understand why doctors in the US don't implement diet-based treatment plans like this (or maybe I do $). Hospitals in Germany have been conducting treatment studies using a ketogenic diet on cancer patients for years now with very significant success.
How does it work? In the most basic sense, cancer cells are fueled by sugar... A ketogenic diet is very low, if not completely devoid of sugar. By keeping sugar out of your diet, you are in effect starving cancerous tumors of their resources. Clinical trials have shown that the tumors will either shrink significantly or dissipate entirely.
Anyone else heard of this? Maybe someone on here has relatives with cancer. Just amazes me how a simple change in diet can accomplish the same thing as months and hundreds of thousands of dollars in chemo-therapy and medication.
