Found this to be pretty interesting: Ketogenic Diet & Brain Cancer | LIVESTRONG.COM

I don't understand why doctors in the US don't implement diet-based treatment plans like this (or maybe I do $). Hospitals in Germany have been conducting treatment studies using a ketogenic diet on cancer patients for years now with very significant success.

How does it work? In the most basic sense, cancer cells are fueled by sugar... A ketogenic diet is very low, if not completely devoid of sugar. By keeping sugar out of your diet, you are in effect starving cancerous tumors of their resources. Clinical trials have shown that the tumors will either shrink significantly or dissipate entirely.

Anyone else heard of this? Maybe someone on here has relatives with cancer. Just amazes me how a simple change in diet can accomplish the same thing as months and hundreds of thousands of dollars in chemo-therapy and medication.

Pople that keep this from reaching the masses need to be shot. Period.

I was researching ketogenic diets recently for bodybuilding.

While I'm not concerned about putting on fat with such a diet, as long as you control the calories. I am a bit concerned about the heart disease, increased rates of cancer and clogged arteries from a high fat diet.

I was planning on eating a shitload of walnuts every day instead of eating carbs and shit, they're mostly polyunsaturated fat which is considered a good fat. Then I read studies that found a high intake of polyunsaturated fat lead to cancers spreading around the body faster. You're farked either way I guess.

pharma companies dont want this info to reach the masses and they will do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening... they are making billions per year for cancer related treatment and illnesses... it's sickening

This. Curing and preventing cancer isn't nearly as lucrative as treating it slowly and watching it progress and kill the patient anyways.

Hmmm...do you know anyone who does that Internet Marketing stuff?

I fucking lol'd.

Also, as soon as I read the thread title i came in to post that food is the cure. Food is magical... I know that sounds gay as hell... but it's true.

Food is literally the answer to all of your problems, and at the same time, the cause of all of your problems.

Gerson therapy has some similarities to the ketamine diet. None the less, it is the diet that changes the way the cancer cells grow, it is very interesting.
Netflix has a few documentaries on it:
The Gerson Miracle
From a Netflix reviewer-
I personally know someone who went through this Gerson therapy in after being told there was no convention therapy for the stage 3 metastatic melanoma they had...that was 13 years ago and the person is cancer free (and was so within 1 year of starting the therapy). I again am encouraged after watching The Gerson Miracle...as a former Oncology nurse, and having dumped gallons of chemo poison into people, only to watch them die anyway, I cant help but want to recommend this to EVERYONE.
It is sad how this therapy has been pushed out of the states, and is not even considered as a possible solution. However, other countries(Japan especially) have been doing a vast amount of research on it.

No one can deny ketogenic diets work for their intended purposes. Dave Palumbo is probably the biggest supporter of a true ketogenic diet in the BB world... if you want to get shredded.. eating like this will no doubt do the trick. But when you're reading other's diet experiences, keep in mind that many of these guys doing these diets are on anabolics as well, so it's much easier for them to retain muscle during ketosis. It is a bitch to keep strength and muscle on a strict ketogenic diet.

Only the wrong kings of fat from misfed animals and shit food in general will cause heart disease.

Then I read studies that found a high intake of polyunsaturated fat lead to cancers spreading around the body faster. You're farked either way I guess.

What was the source of the studies? The same foundations and institutions that support the current pharmaceutical dominance and the retarded ass food pyramid? Walnuts are great, eat them fuckers... better yet, buy walnut oil and mix a teaspoon or two in your protein shake. I have three protein shakes a day (sometimes 2 if I'm slacking) one of them has extra virgin olive oil in it, one has walnut oil in it, and the third is just eaten with a banana post workout when my body needs carbs and protein, not fat and protein.

In general, I don't like ketogenic diets because they are fad diets. No carbs means no fruits and fuck that. You need to eat in a sensible way that is convenient and healthy for the long term and IMO a ketogenic diet fails on all accounts. Any diet that dictates that someone should not eat fruits is doing them a disservice. Period.

With that said, timing and quality is key with carbs.... all you fuckers on these juice diets with 27 peaches and 19 kiwis per serving of juice are doing it all wrong.

I think a lot of the answers with our health lies in epigenetics/gene expression.

..and not eating in line with it... comes back to food.

If my ancestors ate salmon for 2k years and now I only eat chicken... I think there's going to be problemos.
