"The End Times" bullshit.

Such as ?

This is obviously gonna sound crazy but from my understanding of revelations another great war (WW3) which will probably be set off between the Jews and Muslims, increased natural disasters, death of large % of fish/birds/livestock, water will become nearly undrinkable, disease rampant, false messiah will arrive to stop the war and bring peace after billions of deaths and will unite world religions, he will fool the world with false miracles and 'signs of wonder', anyone who doesn't worship him will be hunted, receive 'mark of the beast' or killed. False Christ will eventually be killed and will rise from the dead further deceiving everyone, 2 final prophets will speak against the anti-Christ for 3 years then be killed.

plus lots of other stuff.. including the return of Yah to reclaim his kingdom in the last days of course.

revelations predicts some grim shit, hopefully it won't happen in my lifetime..

PS - modern Christianity is a corrupted and fake religion, few people overstand how it was deliberately infiltrated a long time ago and fused with paganism, no church or preacher will tell you this they will let you stay deceived. Roman Catholicism is even worse but I won't get into that or I'll end up writing a book lol.

The book of revelations was almost left out of the bible when they came to put the various letters etc together because it was so strange. From a bit of reading I think the writer was writing out his own hallucinations (the writer had been exiled on Patmos for some years I think ?).

If you read a history book that only lists events without names or years, it turns into a pretty grim book too.

Welp the earth has gotten along for the past 13,500,000,000 years just fine - I don't see why the next 100 would be anything to worry about for your children.

id start shying away from those people, you don't want them to infect your children with their madness. It catches easily as it is passed from a trusted source.

I have mixed feelings...

Raised southern baptist, was under that brainwash bullshit til about age 16, when I read a book called "Ismael". Pretty simple book, but introduced me to facts I had never tried to align with christianity before.

Fast forward a decade- It's all obviously bullshit, to the point of utter ridiculousness. Most of us know that, and can't even comprehend how a grown ass adult could not only believe such manipulative fairy tales, but also, base their fucking lives on this bs...wtf??

Flip side- The U.S. was founded on christianity and it's code of morality. In the absence of such a religious presence would we be endowed with the freedoms (what's left), and luxuries we enjoy today? things would be different of course but no one can say, with any certainty, for the better. Possibly the naturally occurring morality in humanity would have led to similar favorable conditions, but religion was needed to guide these developing economic and social laws, it was the standard. We are slipping away from that now, but we once had it, and we might not have without the motivation and standard that christianity provided. Also, it gives dumb people (there are plenty of exceptions of course) the emotion of faith, which is a very powerful emotion. For example, my mom, would never be able to live a life of faith without religion. I choose to have faith in myself, my freedom, and the ability to make my life what I want of it. Some people simply, don't have that in the (my mom), and for them religion provides that emotional conductor, so to speak. It is still dumb as fuck though.

cool story bro- when I was 12, my preacher shot the piano player and then himself with a sawed off shot gun, in the church on sun morn. they was having an affair. go southern baptist!!! :love-smiley-083:

Everything leads to whether you believe there is a creator or not. I find it more difficult to believe the universe is just a freak accident. There's not enough randomness for that. And if that is your belief what triggered the moment of creation?

Maybe you should tell your in laws you appreciate their concern for your children but you and your wife would like to make the decisions for your family. You understand their position and processed that.

You need to read more books.

I wonder why everyone stresses about this so much. I'd bet that the odds of you getting hit by a bus are infinity times greater than the world coming to a sudden end. However, regardless of what you believe you should probably live life like today is your last day. Then you won't have to regret what might happen tomorrow.

I've had this book recommended to me by two friends, but they're both flaming liberals, so it hasn't made it to the top of my list yet.

What triggered the moment of creation?

What if there never was a moment?

What if there is infinity, and it actually always was there? Perhaps it's form has changed, and is always changing, but before the current form, before a supposed "big bang", the universe was always there. Just different.

Why limit our thinking, to focus on a magical moment?

I think this thread and the echo chamber/groupthink espoused in it say more about Wickedfire than anything else. Just a bunch of idiots saying "The Bible is crap! Christians are retarded! Rawwwwrrr!"

Kinda sad and pathetic, actually.

It's actually "Ishmael" as i'm sure you know..and i prob wouldn't bother with it. I could see how libs might spin the whole animal rights undertone (or overtone, depends on the reader) of the book. It really just makes it clear that we evovled and we aren't different than animals in some spiritual hierarchy.

perfect for a 16 yr old christian, might be a bit boring now...although it has been 12 years since i've read it so maybe i should give it another go.
