Has anyone been hit up by these guys before? Last night this was the 2nd time it's happened to me.

I was at the ATM last night, and some guys approach me saying they are audio equipment installers who got too many sets sent to them. They said, "Our boss will probably just give us a 6-pack of beer for this, so we want to unload it for cheap - we're just a couple of guys who want some beer money for the weekend."

They offer me a set for $200 - $100 for each of the guys. They said, "look at the price - $2,999! You're basically getting this stuff for free."

I approached the van just to get the license plate info and an accurate vehicle description. I was on my Blackberry the whole time taking down their info. Told them I had to get my ATM card and to wait for me for 15 minutes, as I live down the street.

Called the cops, who knows if they got busted.

tl;dr - guys tried selling me shitty equipment, it's a common scam

I doubt it's shitty equipment. Every time they approach me it looks (almost positive) like legit authentic shit that they just stole.

Been approached by different pairs of these idiots a few times, they're always Lebanese dickheads who are nothing but trouble. The latest encounter was outside my local supermarket, I told them to get the fuck out of here and they didn't take too kindly to that, I walked away and next thing I know the van is tearing around the corner towards me and just dodges me at the last second. They stayed in the van but were swearing and trying to razz me up for a fight, I managed to avoid that and just left.

The people that do this are nothin' but scum, I really hope one day they rip off the wrong guy and he finds them, ties them up with speaker wire in the middle of a supermarket parking lot and shoves a couple of low quality tweeters up their asses.

It's not really a scam, more like a bad purchase decision. Nothing illegal.

It is illegal when they are misrepresenting the quality and price of the product, otherwise it is fine to sell stuff out of a van. In Australia we have the trade practices act, they break a huge amount of it with this scam.

That's what they want you to think... the speakers are in fact extremely low quality crap from China, the boxes are made to look pricey (Marc Vincent sounds classy doesn't it?) and they have MSRP values printed on them of around $5000 usually. They even go as far as to set up fake websites for the products, and fake catalogs which they show you to prove the RRP.

yaaaaaa

the cops in OC take trolling to a whole new level. They pull over whoever the fuck they want, they search whoever they fuck they want, and they arrest whoever the fuck they want (charges will drop, you just have to spend a night or two in jail). And it all starts because some fucking douchebag calls the cops.

Yea, this scam is pretty popular here.

lol @ calling the pigs. You had a great opportunity to have some fun with some scammers, yet you chose to be a little bitch.

If I were you I'd set up my blackberry firewall to block any backtrace attempts because those niggas r gonna be mad bro
