The USSA just keeps getting worse...

No, it is an opinion.

You don't like loud ads. They wouldn't be loud if it didn't boost response.

If you let everyone on Facebook vote whether or not to keep the ads, they'd get removed. MOST people don't like ads. Doesn't matter, some people respond to them.

It's B.S. regulation and the government sticking it's nose in places it doesn't have any business in.

It's not a matter of liking loud ads, or thinking ads are annoying. Consumers should have the freedom of choosing at which volume level they would like their televisions set, and that choice should not be allowed to be co-opted by anybody. All the channels, and all of the programming, commercials etc should be delivered at an equal volume so that the consumer can make the choice to determine the desired volume level.

I'm generally for allowing markets to fix problems, because government generally fucks things up. However, some problems never get fixed if there isn't a profit motive to do so. I'm 35 years old and this has been a problem my whole life, so I'm going to go ahead and assume that the free market has decided against fixing this problem for us, so now I'm ok with the government doing it instead.

Agreed 100% I'm all for this. I'll be raising the volume steadily on my tv through the show, because I can't fucking hear the soft whispering "serious" dialogue and the suddenly AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LOUD COMMERICAL LOUD COMMERICALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH and next thing I know my husband is glaring at me for "having the tv at a ridiculous volume and waking up the baby" I have gotten pretty good at hitting the mute right when I think the commercial is about to come on but the point is I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FUCKING DO THIS.

UG is right, if you guys are really for consumer choice, then we should all be able to choose ourselves how loud we want the volume.

jeezes who gives a fuck, lot of people hate those ads. people always make a quantum leap from oh it starts with regulating the volume, next no ads are allowed at all. america is full of ads. let them regulate this. where is all the anger about them regulating fuck cock shit and other word. that is a much worst regulation then a simple audio.

Instead of having the government regulate this, someone could create a product that fixes the problem and then makes bank selling it.

They make TVs that do this... they stay at the same volume level. These have been around probably 15+ years.

I don't need government to solve my problems, I have a somewhat half-baked, yet still functioning brain. I'll take that over a government solution any day of the week.

Don't watch the station that plays loud ads. Push the volume down key. Turn off the TV. Don't pay your cable bill. You have many options :food-smiley-010:

No reason the government should fine and pillage stations/companies that are already hurting for money just because they "annoy" people

umm

Consumer choice is about what you buy and don't buy, what you watch and what you don't watch.

Consumer choice is about choosing what you buy and do not buy. It is not about using the government to force companies to produce what you want to buy.

It would be nice to have the ad volume match the show volumes, however, it shouldn't be the government nanny'n everything (and they are). USA has become a big nanny country. It is sad really and we need to stand and say no to pretty much all this nanny behavior it is out of control.

Nah it's too indirect. No one's going to go "oh they don't like our commercial because it's too loud" and I switch the channel if I don't like the show not if I don't like the commercial, I just mute or pause it or fast forward. I would be happy if there were an independent push with the stations to do this, but apparently they don't care, so I'm fine with anyone else doing this. There is no foul here, there is no censorship or regulating of content. Just god awful noise. Someone show me where earsplitting decibels are protected by the Constitution please.

No wonder America is in the mess it's in. What a thing to waste time and money on!

You've got a freaking mute button right?

I sincerely hope that one day this kind or shit is all paid representatives have to worry about, unfortunately while the $ is about to collapse (along with every other fiat currency) you have far more important things to be spending your time on!

Careful, TL, you could get branded a liberal and made to associate with Subdigo at this rate! ;)

I'm with you though. Your fight is against the unnatural thing that is keeping the market from choosing what it wants... A "Free market" is about the most consumers choosing one over another... This does not apply here, clearly this is a situation where some deals made in a boardroom are the only thing against consumers... Not other consumers.

Exactly.
