I did now and discovered that for myself once I figured out HOW to use the DAMN .ssa file.
For both my Divx and Avi files I had to rename the .ssa to EXACTLY the same as the video file. (It did not work until I did this.)
Then in VLC player I went to preferences, clicked subtitles/OSD.
Then I checked the Advanced box at the bottom right.
I then browsed to the .ssa file with the browse button next to Use subtitle file.
I then saved it to exit out.
Then I opened the directory where both the video file and the .ssa file were and it worked fine.
Yes, I noticed that the translations are NOT complete & accurate translations. Plus they are OVERLAYED on the existing subs which make them harder to read.
I've had others where they put the new subs DOWN in the letter box for easier reading so that they did not overlay the existing ones.
It took me so long to respond because I had to change computers and the windows explorer would NOT work!! ARGH!!! I had to log out and back in again to fix it. (It's a PAIN for me to log out or reboot these days. I just have TOO MUCH stuff open and running!!)
Glad you got it working and I apologize for putting something up before I had TIME to go through it myself first.
I just got back from seeing it... It was okay, but I was disappointed. I was hoping for more sci-fi and less Alien Rambo.
Well, after finally seeing it completely, I have to agree with Subigo.
It was OK, by today's movie standards. But with me being somewhat of an "Ol' Fart" I remember a LOT of movies from the past.
This movie's storyline and visuals had elements from quite a few older movies. The Fly, Enemy Mine, Alien Nation, Independence Day, and a few others whose titles escape me at the moment.
Now, had I never watched those older movies, this thing would have seemed excellent.
But I have watched those others, so it didn't.
P.S. I will still be interested in seeing the sequel though. I want to see what direction they take it in. They have a wide range to choose for it.
