But I guarantee that after 2 weeks more people will have said they would save their dog. That is the world we live in THESE DAYS.

Why would I save a stranger over my dog? What, just because it's a human means the life is more valuable than my dog? Fuck that.

You don't know shit about this human stranger, they could be a killer, child molester, or just an all around bad person.

My dog? My dog is none of those things. My dog protects my house, protects me, loves me, and is always happy to see me.

Just because you're human doesn't mean your life is automatically more valuable than some other animals life, there are 6 billion people on earth so you're going to have to have something better than "but I'm human" if I'm gonna choose you over my dog whom I know and love.

can't imagine valuing an animal life over a human life in any situation assuming the human is not some sort of murdering, child molesting, raping scum bag.

I guess you never know until it happens to you.

Our family dog fell off a 30ft rock cliff and lived with thousands in medical expenses, then last year required a 6k knee surgery and now has a bionic knee... we love the dog, the dog loves us.

A stranger? We might get a thanks.

Just throwing out arguments for the sake of being bored.

Does the dog "love" you? Or are you just projecting human emotions onto an animal so you can connect to it? The dog doesn't love you. It's attached to you b/c you give it what it needs. It wags it's tail b/c it's excited for a treat or a tummy rub. Not because it "loves" you.

That's a good point. This is basically the same situation.

Who would pay $3k for a life saving treatment for your dog. And would you pay that for a stranger?

What makes a human life more valuable than an animals life? Both animals, just different types.

this is the type of thought that leads do suicide bombers...

The fact that himans can knowingly understand good and bad, and do good makes them superior to animals. Animals can not distinguish from right and wrong. They can be trained, but they still don't understand the concepts.

Bullshit to those that say animals don't show emotions or other human characteristics.

As for the question at hand, my dog is an excellent swimmer and would save the stranger.
